Your Opportunity as the Senior Manager, Quality Assurance- Corporate Sanitation

This position provides sanitation and pest control expertise to support Smucker and Co-Man manufacturing facilities.
Location: Orrville, Corporate Offices
Work Arrangements: Hybrid, 30% in office expectations (Tues, Wed, Thurs of “core weeks” – 6 days per month)
In this role you will:
Standardize and lead continuous improvement of the Sanitation programs and pest management practices including wet & dray sanitation at our manufacturing facilities. Will also provide oversight for these programs in our pilot plants, corporate laboratories and warehouses.
Review and audit sanitation requirements using Master Sanitation Schedules (MSS) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP). Conduct necessary training to address sanitation/ hygiene/GMP compliance.
Collaborate with Plant/Corp Engineering and TSO on the selection, test protocols and standards required to achieve the best sanitation process for facilities.
Lead continuous improvement of sanitation performance goals and metrics. Use trending analytics to drive continuous improvement in sanitation. Also, use metrics to identify hard to reach/hard to clean and or sanitary design opportunities.
Provide subject matter expertise to drive compliance with all applicable corporate, customer and regulatory expectations.
Identify and implement new sanitation/pest management technologies into our operations and warehouse facilities.
Collaborate with Director QA to grow and develop plant sanitation teams and individuals. Would work on development plans, and technical training for sites and teams. Work with 3rd party sanitation service providers to provide technical training to Smucker sanitation and plant teams. Lead cross functional Sanitation meetings with plant teams or other departments as required.
Collaborate with QA and Food Safety to review food safety plans to ensure the proper practices are followed to control identified chemical, biological, and physical contaminants.
Collaborate with Corporate QA on KE audits to ensure consistent application and execution of procedures related to sanitation and pest control management practices.
Provide leadership to strategic 3rd party sanitation service providers. Establish annual continuous improvement goals for performance and cost savings targets. Provide a conduit for JMS employees to provide feedback to service providers. Ensure 3rd parties are meeting all company expectations.
Develop deep technical understanding of sanitation practices with a focus on developing world class dry and wet sanitation practices.
Lead and collaborate with Plant and external subject matter experts on the development of clean and sanitation validation practices for all products manufactured internally and externally when required.

What we are looking for:
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in a Scientific Field or in lieu of a degree 10 additional years of experience (20 years total)
10 years of experience in food manufacturing and minimum of 5 years Quality Assurance and Food Safety leadership.
Working knowledge of, USDA HACCP, FDA FSMA, ready-to-eat (RTE)/not-ready-to-eat (nRTE) regulations.
PCQI certification
Experience with GFSI (BRC) and USDA audits.
Experience on dry / wet sanitation practices/Plant sanitarian.
Strong quantitative and qualitative assessment skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to constructively challenge ideas and assumptions.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to facilitate and manage change.
Ability to lead, teach, and coach others.
Ability to develop written tools, Policies, SOPs.
Ability to work on multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Highly detail oriented.
Work will include nights, off-shift, weekends, and potential holidays.
Willingness to travel up to 50% upon business.
Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role:
Plant sanitation leadership/experience in ready-to-eat USDA and/or FDA facilities. (7-step wet/Dry/Allergen clean out).
Ability to understand complex process operations as it relates to quality, food safety and troubleshooting.
Ability to work collaboratively across departmental boundaries.
