What is the Opportunity?

As a primary stakeholder within the Wealth Management Credit product offering, the incumbent will lead a team of Quality Control Analysts, drive strategic objectives, and contribute to the deep-dive analytics that will enable the collective leadership team to make informed business decisions on the Wealth Management Credit life process.

To achieve business results and create shareholder value through the strategic development, implementation, and leadership within Quality Controls related to the day-to-day processes of the Wealth Management product throughout the credit Life Cycle (origination, on-boarding, client due diligence, loan servicing, and credit administrative functions, including but not limited to short-fall management and account liquidation).   Ensures accurate and actionable risk identification, evaluation, continuous monitoring, and escalation disciplines are in place.

To be successful in this role, the candidate should have a strong understanding of complexities in the positioning of credit products to WM clients, a deep understanding of centralized portfolio management teams operations, account structures and interactions between parties involved in account management. Have a consulting mindset and good understanding of the financial services and the regulatory environment therein.

What will you do?

This position leads the Control team for Wealth Management Lending

The mandate of the Sr. Manager, Quality Control is to

Manage the execution of internal controls performance, ensuring effective practices are followed and quality documentation is produced.

Develop an understanding of the control environment, analyze information, and develop and communicate recommendations that will be presented to business clients.

Work effectively with business partners to drive innovation in service delivery through identifying opportunities, developing solutions, and creating lasting improvements to performance.

Develop an understanding of key risks and use knowledge to identify risks requiring Controls in the environment.

Report metrics to key stakeholders.

Promote operational excellence through continuous process improvement and innovation.

Balance short term solutioning with long term strategic objectives.

Manage, coach, and lead direct reports.

Contribute to the overall RBC Bank team by actively leading activities and mentoring other employees.

All responsibilities carried out in accordance with the Code of Conduct, RBC Values and guiding Principles ensuring compliance with the Privacy Principles.

Control Monitoring:

Develop and implement Plan and sampling methodology (Risk Based)

Develop and implement Procedures to document approach, methodology.

Develop and implement Reporting Metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and/or Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) for control monitoring.

Perform and document Quality Control reviews on sample.

Compile Reports and any findings to Director, SBL Operations and other Senior Management.

Develop and implement control mechanisms to log issues and plans to remediate.

Communicate QC progress, including risk and concerns to senior managers through the use of metrics, scorecards and regular in person updates

Control Management:

Primary Control function for 1LOD for origination and servicing of the Wealth Management Credit and compliance to all applicable regulations (Reg U, Reg B, Reg Z., etc.)

Collaborates with compliance and group risk management to ensure policy and regulatory requirements and the client experience are harmonious.

Responsible for understanding and managing all risks to the RBC Bank Operations, including strategic, reputational, operational, and regulatory compliance.

Responsible for managing conduct risk, by setting the tone, monitoring risk culture, holding employees accountable and promoting effective challenge.

Maintain effective relationships and routines with first, second and third line of defense risk, governance and control teams, and review, understand and action in a timely manner issues and trends highlighted in risk, governance and control reporting.

Ensures that employees understand RBC Bank Operations as well as support and reinforce the leadership model to drive a balanced approach to individual and team performance.

What do you need to succeed?

A thorough knowledge (minimum 10 years) of the processing, delivery and management of credit

Prior experience in private client, retail, commercial and/or corporate account management, credit administration and/or risk management

A proven record of sound risk assessment and analytical skills

A demonstrated ability to pro-actively develop and implement policies and procedures and a full knowledge of the process inherent risk therein

A team player with good interpersonal sills

Excellent organization skills and the ability to tight timetables, completing priorities and multi-tasking

Sound general banking skills

PC literacy (Word, Excel, Power Point)

Global/Enterprise mindset

Experience in various aspects of counterparty risk, e.g. Corporate, Private Client, Funds, Trusts and Derivatives knowledge would be a distinct advantage

Availability to travel: 10-15% of the time
