Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Manager, Special Credit Unit (SCU), Hong Kong and Macau. SCU is responsible for managing and working out HSBC’s stressed and distressed loan book.

Principal Responsibilities

Look after a portfolio of stressed, distressed and defaulted loans from the Hong Kong Macau lending bookFormulate and implement suitable workout, recovery and debt sale strategies for defaulted creditsTake preventative and pro-active measures on emerging stressed situations. Participate in early warning credit meetingsLead / participate in creditor committees and bank group meetings to drive outcomesInfluence outcomes using flexible and appropriate influencing / negotiation styles / tacticsEngage in challenging conversations with borrowers, other creditors and advisorsUndertake security enforcement and legal actions where appropriate to assist in recovery outcomesManage claims process covering Hong Kong Small and Medium Enterprises financing scheme guaranteesTimely prepare and recommend credit proposals, to include calculation of provisioning levels. Clearly articulate and defend views takenDevelop and maintain relationships with external parties in the workout and special situations / private credit / distressed market, to include other banks, funds, trading desks, liquidators, and restructuring, legal financial advisorsDevelop and maintain relationships with internal parties, to include front line business, approvers, legal, finance, operations, audit, trading desks and senior managementContribute to annual targets which cover, amongst others, impairment levels, cost reductions, recoveries, lessons learnt and account closuresConfidently interact with internal and external auditors and external regulatorsBe up to date / knowledgeable on current legal and restructuring developments and insolvency laws, given live application
