Senior Manager, Special Projects for the Dean’s Office - Tepper School of Business

The Tepper School of Business is looking for a Senior Manager, Special Projects in the Dean’s office to lead the execution and implementation of critical strategic projects aligned with Tepper's long-term goals.  This is an exciting, and important time for the Tepper School as it completed its new six year strategic plan in 2024, and has begun the implementation process with a number of key initiatives (currently >25) across the plan’s three strategic pillars - AI for Business, Entrepreneurial Pursuit and Economic Prosperity - already underway.  This role will play a critical role in the successful implementation of the plan’s priorities. 

This role will report to the Dean and will collaborate closely with executive leadership to ensure the successful implementation of new and ongoing strategic initiatives.  We are looking for someone with exceptional analytical skills; strong attention to detail; project management expertise; and the ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics, and influence a wide range of senior leaders and stakeholders to take action on strategic initiatives.

Core responsibilities include:

Strategic Projects (a major strategic project is the implementation of the Tepper Strategic Plan and its associated initiatives; other potential projects include support for Tepper’s accreditation processes, milestone events, etc.)

Serves as a strategic partner to leadership by providing updates and recommendations on critical initiatives or projects

Assists stakeholders in driving projects through to completion.

Proactively identifies redundancies across initiatives, potentially avoiding unnecessary costs

Communicates management initiatives and assists in formulating and implementing policies and procedures

Plan and monitor the budgets for initiatives and special events

Provides guidance and direction to staff involved in engagement initiatives and programs.

Attend key strategic meetings with the Dean, track action items and key takeaways, and ensure effective follow-up to keep projects moving forward; engaging stakeholders as needed

Board and Committee Support - The two major stakeholder groups are the Business Board of Advisors (BBA) and the Tepper School Executive Committee.

Work closely with Dean and Executive Leadership Team on Executive Committee and BBA communication and planning;

Maintain discretion and confidentiality regarding all BBA and Executive Committee Members;

Provide administrative and strategic support regarding Board matters; and

Attend and facilitate all Executive Committee meetings, and ensure that minutes and agendas are prepared, and monitor progress between meetings; and

Attend all Business Board Advisors Meetings (2x/year), prepare minutes and agendas;

Coordinate Dean’s office administrative support for execution of meetings, and associated events

 Other responsibilities:

Collaborate closely with the Tepper Marketing and Communications team to ensure alignment on communications strategies and priorities, related to strategic initiatives and Dean’s communications.

Remain abreast of the Dean’s calendar and travel commitments to leverage strategic opportunities for collaboration across the Tepper School, particularly with the Tepper Advancement/Alumni Relations team, and academic programs

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, or related field required

5-8 years of project management or related experience required

A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
