Role Summary The Senior Manager, Structural Safety, leads and develops the vehicle crashworthiness and virtual analysis team. This role is pivotal in defining and driving structural safety strategies, ensuring compliance with global regulations and consumer safety standards, and continuously improving engineering methodologies to achieve best-in-class safety performance. In this capacity, the Senior Manager, Structural Safety, guides cross-functional initiatives, collaborates with vehicle safety internal and external stakeholders, and establishes structured processes to monitor progress, mitigate risks, and deliver results. They champion a data-driven approach to safety performance, balancing regulatory and consumer crash worthiness performance with external stakeholder needs. Their ability to influence stakeholders, foster innovation, and drive continuous improvement is key to achieving industry-leading safety ratings. Responsibilities Lead and mentor a team of crashworthiness safety engineers and technical specialists, ensuring structured execution of safety performance targets. Define and execute structural crashworthiness programs, ensuring compliance with FMVSS, UNECE, US NCAP, IIHS, Euro NCAP, and other standards. Define and drive structural crash safety strategies, ensuring seamless integration across all affected domains. Own and track structural safety performance deliverables, ensuring all design, virtual analysis, and testing milestones are met in alignment with vehicle program timelines. Contribute to the development and the execution of Design Verification Plans (DVPs), ensuring a structured approach to virtual and physical crash testing. Champion a systems approach to crash performance, working closely with attribute leaders, vehicle concept teams, and function groups. Guide and interpret CAE results, test data, and countermeasure strategies to drive safety improvements. Lead discussions across functions, bringing resolutions to safety performance gaps and advocating for design changes when necessary. Develop and implement proactive monitoring systems to track and challenge safety targets, ensuring alignment with evolving business needs. Mobilize and inspire teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability. l Provide targeted coaching to individuals and ensure clear development pathways for high- potential talent. Effectively communicate safety performance progress and challenges to executive leadership, ensuring alignment on priorities and risk mitigation strategies. Qualifications Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field. Extensive experience in vehicle safety, crashworthiness, and structural performance, with a strong understanding of global regulatory and consumer safety standards (FMVSS, UNECE, US NCAP, Euro NCAP, IIHS). Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, fostering technical excellence and career growth. Strong expertise in CAE methodologies, crash test planning, and vehicle safety validation. Deep understanding of vehicle structures, materials, and crash management strategies in crash scenarios. Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional collaboration, effectively influencing decisions across engineering, and program teams. Strong project management skills, with experience in tracking deliverables, mitigating risks, and aligning resources. Ability to champion strategic change, proactively identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements and enhanced safety methodologies. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of presenting technical findings and influencing leadership decisions. Pay Disclosure Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $218,200.00 - $272,800.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
