The Senior Manager, Training Product, is responsible for the technical quality, delivery and capacity of ABS’s commercial client-facing training offerings. They maintain overall responsibility for our catalog of nearly 200 maritime training courses, manage the product life cycle of courses, and are responsible for their delivery and continuous improvement. A core responsibility is ownership of relationships with the subject-matter experts (SMEs) who develop, update, and teach training courses. Additionally, they oversee the operations of assigned ABS flagship safety and training centers.
What You Will Do:
Work in close collaboration with VP, Training Solutions to ensure that the training product strategy aligns seamlessly with broader organizational goals and market opportunities. Oversee the daily operations of ABS flagship safety and training centers, ensuring they meet service and revenue targets. Engage with stakeholders across ABS to gather input and ensure cohesive strategy implementation. Develop a network of SME talent to ensure adequate capacity to develop and deliver training Manage the contracting, recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of instructors, ensuring they are equipped to develop and deliver exceptional training experiences. Coordinate with SMEs and instructors, training operations and local ABS personnel as necessary to manage delivery schedules and instructor calendars in accordance with customer demands Establish metrics for instructor performance, implementing regular reviews and feedback loops to foster professional growth. Establish robust mechanisms for measuring the effectiveness and impact of training programs using key performance indicators and feedback systems. Oversee the ongoing updates and maintenance of existing training content, ensuring it adheres to the latest industry standards and incorporates new developments in international shipping Spearhead the development of new training modules, ensuring they are both engaging and educational, catering to the evolving needs of the maritime industry. Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Education, Business, or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred. A minimum of 10 years in the maritime industry, preferably in a seagoing, technical, training, or classification role. A minimum of 3 years of experience in product management in a training-related business, with a strong preference for experience in the maritime or shipping industry or an analogous field in which international regulations and supply chain/logistics play a central role. Proven project management skills, with a track record of managing complex projects and cross-functional teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries. Experience with commercial Business to Business (B2B) training, with knowledge of logistics, stakeholder groups, Profit and Loss (P&L) economics, and operational needs of a training business Proficiency in instructional design and adult learning principles is a plusKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Deep knowledge of the maritime/shipping industry and exceptional understanding of customer relationships, sales cycles, and needs of maritime customers. Knowledge in alternative fuels and emerging maritime regulations and technologies is a strong plus. Strong networking and communication skills for collaborating with senior industry experts and subject matter experts. Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans with sales staff that align with company goals and drive significant revenue growth. Strong operational management skills with the ability to oversee multiple aspects of business operations, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of client-facing training programs and products. Proficient in financial management, budgeting, and P&L management; capable of making informed decisions that positively impact the bottom line. Obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System.It Would Be Nice If You Had:
