Capital One’s Data team is responsible for the data ecosystem, which covers the holistic data lifecycle, from the capture of high-quality customer data in real-time, the structuring, storage and processing of that data for insight, to the usage of the data in event driven applications and ML driven models that help our customers.

As a Senior Manager Data Architect you will be an experienced technical leader bringing business, industry and deep technical understanding to shape the architecture direction and evolution of the data ecosystem, across your aligned data technology domain. You will invest in architecture excellence across the Data team, and foster innovation to unlock value across our user community of Engineers, Data Scientists, Data Analysts & Data Governance associates.

What you’ll do

Shape the architecture direction and evolution of the data ecosystem, for your data technology domainInfluence Senior stakeholders, Internal customers & Enterprise partners, gaining consensus on key technology decisions and architecture direction of the data ecosystemPartner with Product Management, Engineering, Cyber and our user community of Engineers, Data Scientists, Data Analysts and Data Governance associates, solving their challenges through Data Technology, to unlock business valueBe a passionate evangelist for the data ecosystem and data technology, driving wide awareness and usage aligned to Enterprise / UK architecture standards and patternsEnable simplification across our architecture, processes and technologies, by encouraging and fostering the reuse of appropriate industry SaaS solutions and/or Enterprise standards, patterns, capabilities and platformsNurture and grow architecture excellence & culture within the Data team, leading technical design reviews & driving architecture best practice both within the team and the broader Architecture organisationCollaborate with your peers in UK architecture and engage in the wider Enterprise architecture groupAt times, take on delegated responsibilities from the Divisional Chief Architect (DCA) as their proxy to provide additional coverage for more complex activities and design reviews

What you’ll bring

Demonstrable experience as a Senior Manager Data Architect, in a large, complex data led organisationDeep understanding of modern Data Technologies, with expertise in Streaming Data, Event Driven Architectures, Data LakeHouse (inc. Data Products, ELT, Distributed Data Processing, Snowflake), Data Governance, Python, Spark, Java, AWS Cloud technologies (e.g. Serverless, DynamoDB etc…) and knowledge of ML and GenAIA track record in leading the architecture vision, design & implementation of Enterprise scale data applications, across a given domain (e.g. Streaming data, Data LakeHouse, Data Products, ML platform capabilities)Excellent communication skills, effortlessly navigating across tech, architecture, product and senior stakeholders to achieve alignmentProficiency in software development principles, patterns, and practicesInspiration as an evangelist for architectural thinking and data technology, with experience in nurturing and growing architecture & data thinking within Architecture, Engineering & Data led functionsAn ability to shape the adoption of modern Data Technology and support the evolution of a Data driven culture, across a scaled, cross functional organisationExperience in a Financial Services organisation beneficial


Where and how you'll work

This is a permanent position based in our Nottingham office.

We have a hybrid working model which gives you flexibility to work from our offices and from home. 

We’re big on collaboration and connection, so you’ll be based in our Nottingham office 3 days a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
