We are looking for a highly motivated, positive and innovative Senior Manager - Clinical Operations who will be responsible for executing the overall strategy and vision of DaVita Clinical Research. The individual will also be responsible for regional management and leadership of Alliance clinical research sites in a national renal research site organization.  The Senior Manager - Clinical Operations will lead a team of health care professionals who are responsible for oversight of clinical trials in dialysis and chronic kidney diseases, and will manage all site operations for the region which includes financial accountability, physician relationships, oversight of the research staff, ensuring that studies meet enrollment goals and study execution meets our high quality standards.  

This position can be based within a home office/remote or hybrid if located within Minneapolis.

Essentials Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

20% - Responsible for Leadership & Strategy

Communicates organizational and departmental objectives and vision to department, clinical partners, and stakeholders

Promotes DaVita Culture and exemplifies core values

Maintains effective relationships with physician and clinical care partners as it relates to clinical research

Cultivates positive research brand awareness, patient and caregiver satisfaction.  

Implements tactical plans to advance strategic, operating and quality objectives

Actively engages to deliver annual revenue targets and growth goals

30% - Manages operations at research sites with DCR employed Group Regional Managers/Research Operations Managers/Regional Managers/study coordinators

Provides direct supervision and work direction for departmental managers and teammates.

Assists in the development and maintenance of teammate training, reference and audit tools

Facilitates teammate development (PDRs, coaching, mentoring, DaVita training, outside training); collaborates with direct reports to create professional development goals

Addresses teammate relations issues appropriately and escalate as necessary

Facilitates timely issue escalation and resolution for physicians and study sponsors as related to field operations

20% - Relationship Management & Development with both Physicians and In-Center teammates

Works collaboratively to identify potential new regional Alliance sites and works to establish new locations including lease negotiations and agreement execution.

Expand research operations within current markets to new centers for greater patient exposure.

Work with in-center teammates to integrate research operations within the center.

Develop/maintain relationships with physician practice staff for CKD study execution.

10% - Collaborates with Quality and Compliance Teams to promote operational excellence

Understands and promotes compliance with all applicable healthcare and research regulations

Ensures that the DaVita Compliance team requirements are followed

Coordinates with Quality Assurance to ensure teammates are trained on Standard Operating Procedures, research regulations and applicable healthcare regulations

15% - Financial Management

Timely preparation & submission of forecasts and budgets

Maintains and reports progress against quarterly revenue and expense forecasts Implements tools to improve operational efficiencies and cost controls

Ensures contract/budget negotiations achieve targeted margins

Ensures effective tracking and monitoring of key performance, quality and financial indicators

Prepares executive status reports and presentations and provide support, as needed, to executive teams

5% - Mentor and develop teammates.

Know, understand and follow teammate guidelines, employment policies, and department or company procedures. Foster a positive work environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree is required

Minimum of 10 or more years of clinical research experience or equivalent experience is required.

Minimum of 10 years of teammate development and team management experience is required.

Ability to travel up to 40% depending on business needs. (Travel to monthly leadership meetings and as needed to clinical research sites)

Reliable transportation to travel between local research sites.

Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills and superior organizational and planning skills

Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Project, MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.

Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adjust priorities appropriately in an evolving work environment with shifting time frames; self-starter with high degree of initiative, urgency, and follow through.

Experience in managing confidential information and/or issues using discretion and Judgment

Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) or Association of Clinical Research Professionals Certification (ACRP)

Extensive knowledge of GCP regulations required
