Job summary – What to expect:
We have an exciting opportunity for an analytics professional to join CooperVision as our new Senior Distribution Analytics Manager.
The Senior Distribution Analytics Manager works across multiple functions to develop a distribution data strategy, certifying data sources and exercising governance with the product of day-to-day reports. As data improves, insights will be available for day-to-day operations and informing tactical and strategic network discussions.
This role coordinates data modelling and analytics techniques, delivering information for our distribution operations so that they can optimise service and cost. Leading a team of data analytics and developers, this role ensures availability, accuracy and completeness of data and reporting, whilst implementing and maintaining an optimal approach to data governance and data processing procedures.
Working closely with our distribution operations and wider organisational stakeholder group, this role provides data driven insight to our activities and provides our operations with a common playbook of data tools and reports. Key objectives include –
Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
Supporting our teams.
Leading the analytics forum to ensure agreement on the data dictionary of common data terms across our network, best analytics practice is identified and shared across our network and best reporting practice is defined and implemented across our network. Harmonizing the operational reports in each region. Working with the distribution operations team to define the catalogue of distribution standard KPIs and reports and managing them through an appropriate system such as Calibra, defining the technical platform to support the data analysis vision, support the recruiting, hiring and coaching of analyst team members, making available appropriate analytical tools and processes to support those sites currently without dedicated analyst support and working with stakeholders across the organisation to support our data business continuity process.Consolidating data.
Own the central data repository which will include day to day transactional details of Warehouse operations and Freight information for both primary and secondary shipping legs. Identify which data comes from certified sources; where certified data is not available, develop robust and consistent techniques to maintain the accuracy and completeness of that data. Of note; certified data signifies trustworthiness in origin and the manner in which it has been processed. Uncertified data lacks a demonstrable process to authenticate the data origin or the process in preparing it. With the distribution operations team, create and implement policies for effective data management and be responsible for the accuracy of data in the data repository. Use the appropriate tools to ringfence our consolidated data and reports from unnecessary modification. Catalogue and manage the existing suite of reports.Delivering the day to day.
Oversee the design and delivery of reports and insights used to analyse business functions as well as key operations and performance metrics, including a daily global performance report. Scheduling the workload of data processing and daily reports Own the data requirements for the global balanced scorecard. Support data demands from our customers. Provide the right data to give end to end visibility of physical orders and help optimise delivery to the customer. For our analytics applications, support the regular cadence of licence renewal and type of licence required.A global approach – Encouraging harmonization.
Consolidate and refine reporting requirements across distribution operations. Consolidate and refine business processes relating to data, across distribution operations. Agree (with the wider stakeholder group) the process for distribution operations to adjust their reporting and data processes; sites will not lose control and the ability to change, but in future these changes will be managed through a process. Partner with our IT teams to consolidate the various platform instances across our operations (e.g. Tableau) Own the regular refresh of the distribution operations carbon footprint.Input to other activities.
Leverage data to inform cost of service by market; seek to incorporate and inform our reports with timely financial as well as commercial reporting. Link in with the global commercial operations team and other functions to support the definition of the ongoing data strategy. Partner with other CV BI teams across the globe to ensure our approach is optimal. Support the objective of order tracking (‘your delivery is available now’), working with our commercial colleague to define the requirement.Travel Requirements
This role will require travel to sites across the business, including the Americas, Europe and APAC, at least once in every six months, to lead initiatives in person. In addition, leading initiatives at EMEA locations at least once every six months.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strategic skills:
Strong working knowledge of data mining principles: predictive analytics, mapping, collecting data from multiple data systems on premises and cloud-based data sources. Minimum of five years’ experience in supply chain data analytics. Able to define and enact techniques of data husbandry. Able to think strategically and view the business from a general management standpoint.Operational skills:
Ability to lead a team, plan and manage numerous processes, resources, and projects simultaneously.Desirable:
Knowledgeable of / familiar with cloud-based applications such as snowflake. Super-user of both the Tableau application and Snowflake. Ability to perform effective analytical querying involving multiple tables and subqueries. Knowledge of database theory and architecture.Experience
Minimum of five years’ experience in supply chain operations i.e., warehouse operations, freight forwarding etc. Membership of a relevant professional body. (Provides an external view of what the data industry is doing and what the best-in-class data users are doing). Customer focused with strong interpersonal and communication skills. High energy individual that can handle conflict and difficult or sensitive situations. Experience with engaging stakeholders both within and external to distribution, upon multiple levels and in varying geographies. Experience with business process optimization.Education
A qualification in higher education or a professional qualification that supports data analytics. Academic qualification or alternative experience which will inform how we optimise developments in the analytics field over the next three to five years (AI). A mathematics qualification that encompasses data analytics techniques. Fluency in English (could be first or second language).What we offer:
