Job Description
Under direction of the Director of Verification, Process and Technical Writing, this position is responsible for managing the QMS documentation and support within R&D. The Senior Manager shall ensure the team meets the support both the internal QMS updates and support the global Quality management deliverables.
As a Senior Design Controls Manager in OSTA, you will join our systems team to help manage, coach, and lead our efforts related to the QMS system. It is expected that you utilize your full range of skills including people management, process knowledge and partnerships to drive harmonization of methods, tools and strategy across all regions.
Job Duties Analyse and propose improvements to processes (including methods, tools and interfaces) according to internal and external regulations and standards. Present, train and coach new processes and methods to involved organization. Review process implementation and measure process performance especially regarding process interfaces to other areas. Elaborate alternative or amended process approaches and proposes changes to involved participants. Test alternative processes in pilot projects. Create transparency and consistency of organization, tasks and responsibilities. Moderate and steer communication between line management, process organization and involved participants. Coach, manage, lead and grow a talented team as required in the US and India that consistently delivers on updating processes. Supervise and mentor individuals within the team and grow a team the whole R&D team while providing feedback on their daily work. Gathering information from subject-matter experts and developing, organizing, and developing products and understand improvements required to SOP’s procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation. Provide support to the CoE team supporting all workstreams related to local and global QMS systems. Support the policy definition with all regions. Own periodic review of all SOP’s. Support all vendors in ensuring delivery of their deliverables (ie Translations, etc). Evaluate and harmonize tools and processes across regional teams. Assists with creating and maintaining facility-level procedures and work instructions for the all program. Champions continued improvement of technical writing processes and tools. Collaborates with other regions and corporate to facilitate improvements. Extensive technical knowledge related to product development, HW, SW, Optics and Systems engineering. Job QualificationsRequired:
BS Degree in English, Communications or a technical field bachelor’s degree. Management experience of resources. A minimum of 12 years of professional experience within a medical device technical writing team. Minimum of 5 years functional manager. Minimum 7 years of working knowledge and understanding of technical writing, labelling and complex products.
Preferred:
People leader, who resources look to follow. Strong writing and editing capability. Ability to understand complex products and translate the details from requirements into clear documentation. General knowledge of medical device standards. Self-motivated person that can work individually and lead a team of technical writers. Ability to express ideas clearly both in written and oral communications.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $131,345.00 - $183,883.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position including: level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
