Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for a F-35 Specialty Engineering Integrated Product Team Lead (IPT) Senior Manager. This leadership role may be located in Redondo Beach, CA (preferred) or Palmdale, CA with expected travel (approx. 25%) to Palmdale or Redondo Beach, Fort Worth, TX, and various customer locations (such as Eglin, Hill, Nellis AFBs and Lemoore Naval Station). This position will report directly to the F-35 Chief Engineer Sr. Director and will be a critical member of the Chief Engineering organization for the program. Northrop Grumman supports the F-35 Joint Program Office in development, production, deployment, sustainment, and modifications for the F-35 platform for three branches of the DoD and various Foreign Military (FMS) customers.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge in one or more Specialty Engineering functions - Materials & Processes (M&P), Low Observable (LO), Thermal Analysis, Mass Properties, Durability and Damage Tolerance (DaDT), System Safety, Standard Parts, and/or Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) - as well as experience managing cross-functional Engineering teams of 15 or more in a dynamic Aerospace development and production environment. Additionally, a leader with strong organizational, cost, and schedule execution management experience using Earned Value Management System (EVMS) techniques and Control Account Manager (CAM) experience is critical. Demonstrated success in executing testing or supplier qualification is also a consideration. Lastly, leadership and communication skills are essential to help drive issues to closure and provide clear insight to executive leadership.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Primary Sr. Engineering Manager over the F-35 Specialty Engineering IPT and a matrixed team of approximately 23+ teammates

Responsible for management of F-35 Specialty Engineering functions

Ensure Production and Engineering products are being executed to sound Sector, Division & Program Engineering Processes & Tools

Ensure products are meeting customer requirements and quality expectations within given timelines and affordability targets

Overseeing preparation, review, approval, and execution of affordable engineering and/or related engineering change proposals (ECPs)

Facilitation and execution of our Specification review board process for configuration control

Customer collaboration and cultivation for the Development SOW through Prime and Government counterparts

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 9 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of related engineering experience

Related engineering experience includes any of the Specialty Engineering functions (M&P, LO, Thermal Analysis, Mass Properties, DaDT, System Safety, Standard Parts, and/or EEE)

5 years of previous technical management experience leading a teams of engineers

Experience developing aircraft systems and ability to demonstrate basic concept knowledge

Familiarity with leading technical proposals and ability to lead customers through technical content reviews

Must have prior experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) using Earned Value Management Techniques (EVMS)

Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time, as determined by business needs

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience on F-35 Program Air Vehicle Teams

Background in M&P and/or Structural Analysis/DaDT preferred

Previous experience leading Air Vehicle Development for new or existing Military Aircraft Platforms

Previous experience leading Materials & Processes, Low Observable technology areas, and/or Specialty Analysis Teams (DaDT, Thermal, EEE) on Military platforms

Understanding of Design Engineering/Computer-aided Design (CAD) and engineering releases processes utilizing Product Lifecycle Management tools

Prior experience qualifying or certifying a supplier for a given product or process to program requirements

Experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager

Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities

Ability to collaborate and achieve consensus when dealing with groups from diverse organizations and backgrounds across multiple support functions

Knowledge of ITAR, International Licensing Requirements and procedures

Salary Range: $164,300.00 - $246,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
