What you may not know is how our Finance Team provides analysis, insight and support for strategy development/deployment and key initiative oversight and skillfully prepares and examines the financial records for two bakeries producing 40,000 cheesecakes daily. The Senior Manager Financial Operations is critical in overseeing the financial aspects of production operations, including cost analysis, financial reporting, budgeting/forecasting, inventory management, fixed asset management, and collaborating with other departments to optimize production efficiency and profitability, all while aligning with the company's strategic goals. Here’s more of what you’ll get to do: Manage the Financial Operations function of the West Coast plant and business partnership with the operation managers to understand operational challenges and provide financial insights to support decision-making. Develop and manage operational annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and financial performance metrics based on production plans, including variance analysis and commentary. Develop and maintain the cost accounting function, establishing standard costs for material and labor, determining cost variances and performing gross margin analysis. Monitor and analyze deviations between actual production costs and standard costs, identifying root causes of variances, and proposing corrective actions. Manage monthly close process and financial reporting, including production cost breakdowns, review of cost-related journal entries, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, departmental cost summaries and preparation of financial reports. Report daily, weekly, and monthly operational key performance indicators and trends such as safety, quality, delivery, production and cost variances. Identify risks and recommend cost-saving measures to improve profitability. Oversee physical inventory counts, ensuring accurate inventory valuation and monitoring inventory levels to optimize production flow. Oversee and maintain fixed assets, including tracking additions, disposals. Ensure regular physical verifications and updating system data as needed. Manage the accounts payable function ensuring timely payments of vendor invoices and expense vouchers and maintaining accurate financial records. Coordinate with the production and operations teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and efficiency projects. Mentor and develop a team of three individuals, fostering a culture of accuracy and continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls and company policies in all cost accounting and accounts payable practices. Collaborate with the corporate accounting team on financial close processes and external audits. What we require: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of financial operations and cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry. Minimum of 4 years of managerial experience. Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, standard costing, and variance analysis. Proficient in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and develop a team. High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to ethical standards and compliance. Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities. What we prefer: CPA or CMA certification.
