Oversee a staff of Internal Audit Managers responsible for the completion of internal audit examinations and reviews. Provides strategic recommendations, counsel, and guidance to internal audit management to ensure project/department milestones/goals are met. Guides the assessment of existing policies and controls to make sure they are current, adequate, functional and utilized in accordance with standards established by the government and the company.
Responsibilities:
Plans, performs, and oversees completion of complex internal audit examinations and reviews. Communicates strategies and trends with senior and executive leadership. Oversees execution of co-sourced activities with external partners and maintains strong customer relationships with internal and external customers. Develops long-term (annual) resource plans for internal audit and drives innovation across team using deep understanding of audit practices. Ensures financial statements fairly represent actual operating results. Ensures internal controls are appropriate and effective in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX). Oversees team in monitoring and suggesting improvements in internal control environment, including making operational recommendations resulting in improved sales, margins, operating expenses, LEAN initiatives and working capital management. Provides recommendations, counsel, and guidance to management to address control and operational deficiencies that limit success in meeting business objectives and compliance with laws and regulations. Identifies and documents weaknesses in control design and effectiveness based on analysis performed and writes formal draft audit reports for an executive audience. Oversees data forensic and data analytic activities to provide reliance, accuracy, and accountability for distribution in response to management. Directs follow-up on key management actions from prior audit reports to determine if required actions were taken. Reviews and approves project budgets and team schedules including workloads to meet goals. Selects, manages, evaluates, and develops managers by providing coaching, feedback, and development opportunities. Handles confidential and highly sensitive information in a mature and sensitive manner.Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree - Accounting, business or related is required; Masters Degree is preferred. CPA, CMA, CIA, CISA, CFE are preferred. 10 years required, 12-15 years preferred of relevant experience in accounting, auditing or other financial management role. Understands generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and adherence to Institute of Internal Auditors International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing. Remains current on internal audit practices and issues through literature and attending seminars. Sound judgment and decision making skills, including ability to analyze, understand, and evaluate areas of risk and its financial and operational impact to the organization. Strong analytical, organizational, time management, and computer skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work directly with external parties. Flexible and able to adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment, and able to travel up to 25%. Ability to be professional, energetic, and exhibit high degree of initiative, creativity, and credibility.
