Job Summary:
The Senior Manager Philanthropy provides strategic direction to all aspects related to the centralized direct response program and the data processing team related to Annual, Mid-Level and Legacy Giving and Donor Stewardship. Key Responsibilities: Develops, implements and continually evaluates the centralized direct response program’s performance, in support of VON’s strategic priorities. Uses evidence-based, data driven decision making to inform strategies for the centralized direct response program, acquisition and digital campaigns to increase overall fundraising revenue at the annual and mid-level giving levels.Develops, implements and manages a robust gift program through standardized stewardship practices for all levels of giving with emphasis at the mid-level giving and major gifts to retain and elevate donor loyalty and increase overall giving.Leads the Manager Philanthropy and Fund Development Database Coordinators in successful execution of fundraising activities and accurate gift receipting and data management.Develops, monitors and analyzes donor giving trends through key performance indicators for new, current and lapsed donors to determine best solicitation tactics.Manages the annual direct response program budget, tracks revenue targets and reports on results.Create and maintain organizational policies and guidelines related to gift giving and donor stewardship based on best practices and industry standards.Ensures that the centralized direct response program schedule aligns with other revenue generation activities.Develops and implements a multi-year strategic work-plan for the development and marketing of legacy gifts. Designs and implements customized donor recognition and stewardship plans. Manages the campaign plans and critical paths to meet all targets.Collaborates with IT/IS to ensure the Blackboard system is maintained and supported in a timely manner to ensure prompt processing of donations and updating of donor information.Manages the data management system (Raiser’s Edge) to ensure the accurate and timely recording and reporting of data. Works with internal partners, including functional departments on regional or national projects.Oversees the relationship with external partners, including community boards and corporations, individuals, corporate and foundation donors and government, agency and community service funders. Education, Designations and Experience: Post-Secondary Degree in relevant field of study.Minimum ten (10) years fundraising management experience including a minimum of five (5) years managing others is required.Experience in planning and executing significant fund development programs and campaigns in collaboration with volunteers.Must be fully conversant with CRA requirements as they apply to registered charities. Experience working in an organization with a national/local dynamic.Knowledge of fundraising processes, best practices and current industry trendsCertified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation an asset.Experience working in the Health and/or community support services sector an asset.Skill Requirements: Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to develop effective working relationships with people at all levels (internal and external).Excellent conceptual and critical thinking, assessment and problem-solving skills.Ability to accept and facilitate change.Ability to build and develop a high functioning team.Ability to use evidence-based and data-driven decision-making skills in relationship to key work strategies.Highly proficient user of a fundraising data base (Raiser’s Edge preferable).Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Proficient using Microsoft Office software including Power Point, Word, Excel, Outlook.Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment, multi-task and balance competing priorities. Demonstrated ability to effectively structure daily work activity with minimal supervision focused on the achievement of goals.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships.Demonstrated skillsets in leadership, and team building.Ability to accept and facilitate change. Others: A Vulnerable Sector Search and/or Child Abuse Register Check may be required,Ability to speak French is an asset in French Designated areas.Must be willing and able to travel throughout the site/region.Working conditions and physical demands: This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying (using proper techniques), bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics. Individuals in the role are required to walk, sit, stand, and climb stairs throughout the day, with some tasks requiring fine hand movements.
