Senior Manager Purchasing

Job Summary

This position is leading the Tactical Purchasing Team and responsible for delivering on the metrics and directives for the entire organization. It also includes managing the supplier interface focusing on cost, delivery and quality as well as flow of incoming material to the end user and disposition of non-conforming goods.  They will also be coordinating the procurement activities by working with suppliers on the purchase of materials and supplies both domestically and internationally.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the following activities:

Oversee buying functions for the organization through the leading of the tactical purchasing team that is responsible for executing on sourcing strategies, including supplier performance tracking, tactical relationship management and total cost management and execution Lead, coach, develop and manage performance activities for direct reports Responsible for interfacing with quality, production, planning, materials leaders supporting supplier quality requirements, shortage tracking & mitigation, demand planning activities, prioritizing purchasing activities, developing common processes and tools Lead tactical purchasing directives and goals for the organization responsible for achieving the organization’s metrics in cost, inventory, on-time-delivery, etc Create and report out weekly purchasing metrics that measure supplier and department performance, including supplier metrics used during quarterly business reviews Leads continuous improvement and enterprise excellence projects and events. Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts Lead and support team member activities such as coordinate purchase orders, requisitions, request for quotes, and other similar documents related to the purchasing of product for production parts from new/existing suppliers. Be the point of contact to communicate parts availability to Category Lead and Supply Chain Leadership as appropriate. Lead advanced communication on potential part problems that could affect in-station work on the production floor. Participate in bid package development and sourcing projects with Category Leads Other duties as assigned.

Senior Purchasing Manager Duties

Responsible for reporting the tactical metric performance to Monthly Business Review Budget accountability for department Development of succession planning for department Drives accountability to individual commodity groups for metric performance. Develops and documents business process for the department. Drive Supplier Development program initiatives Support strategic initiatives

Qualifications

BS/BA degree in Supply Chain/Operations, Business, Economics, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or related field and a minimum of 7 years of related experience with 3 years management experience Senior Manager: 10 years of related experience with 5 years of managerial experience. APICS CPIM Certification preferred Strong skillset in MPR/ERP, Pull/Kanban, and Two-Bin inventory planning systems and bill of materials. Functional knowledge of engineering documentation, manufacturing process control, and technical data. Experience in the delivery of complex program management, cross functional business/capability development and change initiatives.  Effective negotiation, communication, decision making and problem-solving skills. Excellent MS office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) supported by matching verbal and written communication skills.
