The Chief Technology Officer Organization’s vision is to raise the bar for technical excellence, talent, strategy, and standards across Technology. It also seeks to cultivate and foster technical innovation, as well as elevate and amplify the technical heartbeat of the organization.

Our team is dedicated to identifying and exploring new technologies, conducting safe experimentation, and discovering use cases that embrace emerging tech. As a member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with forward-thinking professionals, drive impactful change within our organization, and shape the future of Amex technology.

This position will support defining the cross-functional strategy for harnessing emerging technologies at American Express including Gen AI by supporting the prioritization of use cases throughout the business, solving for imminent questions for our approach to partnerships and being an external voice for developments and implications.

This position will act as a strategic partner and advisor in terms of technology, innovation, intellectual property, know-how, organizational technical core competency, R&D strategy, product commercialization, and program execution. This role works closely with strategic product, technology and venture partners to define the needs being addressed in each R&D program and deliver the concepts, capabilities, designs, and plans to meet these needs. This role will also ensure that R&D projects are delivered on time, in budget and that the products meet specifications.

On any given day, you might:

Define and socialize impactful business strategies around emerging technologies such as Gen AI. Gather leadership support for opportunities and lead external partnerships that will drive meaningful results for the company. Support strategic leadership committees in the creation and execution of ambitious tech-first strategies. Implement performance transparency of pilots and use cases to ensure success and company resources are deployed most effectively. Support internal training, socialization and education of emerging tech such as Gen AI that will empower and foster development of new solutions across American Express.

Minimum requirements:

4+ years of experience in corporate strategy, product development, management consulting or investment banking preferred. Exceptional communication and presentation skills with proven ability to message effectively across levels and tailor complex messages to executive audiences. Track-record of successfully supporting strategic initiatives, including the development of business cases. Consistent track record managing partners and collaborators to reach in consensus. Ability to break down complex problems in simple ways and tell a story with data. Software application skills – advanced in Excel and Power Point. Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Science, Technology, Engineering or another quantitative field required.

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
