About the Team

At Williams-Sonoma, Inc., we build industry-leading technology solutions in the areas of OMS, PIM, Payment, Middleware, Logistics, and Care Center technologies to serve our global customers across eCommerce, Stores, and B2B channels.  The Supply Chain Systems teams within Supply Chain Engineering are responsible for the solution design, detailed technical design, development, quality assurance, performance testing, implementation, post go live validation warranty support and defining the monitoring metrics of the order management and supply chain system capabilities.

We are a multi-location team with team members in US and international locations. About the Role

The Williams-Sonoma, Inc. Supply Chain Engineering organization is seeking an energetic and talented Senior Manager to lead the Order Management and Supply Chain systems domain delivery teams, driving high-value, high-quality features to our industry-leading Supply Chain capability. At Williams-Sonoma, we build 6 of the retail industry-leading websites -- Williams-Sonoma, west elm, Mark and Graham, and the Pottery Barn family. This role will work across the entire functional domain of all the brands.  

The ideal candidate would have the ability to effectively come up with technical design for capabilities across supply chain systems, influence/participate in architectural/design discussions, strategic planning, roadmaps, and decisions to ensure we build impactful, compelling, and scalable solutions in an incremental fashion, unlocking hyper-growth, data-driven decision making and creating a world of possibilities for our customers/business. 

Success in the role requires agility and results-orientation, strategic and innovative thinking, a proven track record of delivering new customer-facing software products at scale, rigorous analytical skills, and a passion for automation and data-driven approaches to solving problems. 

 Responsibilities 

Design, build and test for capabilities across supply chain systems which are highly scalable, extensible and maintainable.  Review and provide feedback on planned architecture, design for programs both within the OMS and Supply Chain domains as well as to other related domains. Collaborate with Product Management and Business partners as needed to drive results.   Collaborate with Production Support to continuously evaluate health of the Order Management and Supply Chain Systems.   Actively participate and lead if required production support triage calls for key production issues. Keep the leadership informed about the status in the fastest communication channel available at that point. Attract, select and retain critical talent for the team; coach team members in coding and development skills. Facilitate Communities-of-Practice in critical technologies. Estimate development effort, perform resource allocation, plan implementations and system rollouts.  Assist in continually improving the Engineering organization and making it a great place to work. Develop a solid understanding of critical systems and processes. Perform other duties as required. 

Criteria 

Substantial experience building and managing an effective team of software engineers and technical leads.  Track record of continuously optimizing how teams work.  Ability to matrix manage projects through the entire lifecycle (concept to completion).  Strong project management skills with the ability to lead technical professionals.  Ability to systematically gather relevant information from different sources to address an issue and make a prompt and insightful decision.  Excellent organizational and leadership skills.  Demonstrated ability to anticipate, mitigate, and resolve conflicts across workgroups.  Proven experience in developing and executing plans, meeting deadlines and operating under tight time constraints.  Strong verbal and written communication skills.  Excellent interpersonal skills including such areas as team spirit, negotiation, collaboration, pitching in where needed, valuing and respecting individuals irrespective of seniority levels.  Demonstrated ability to negotiate with and manage external vendors.  Self-motivated and able to work independently.  Comfortable with some ambiguity and calculated risk-taking. Bachelor's of Engineering degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.  

Technical Competencies required:

10+ years hands-on experience with implementing and owning Order Management System preferably IBM Sterling Order Management System. Technical expertise in Java 17+, Functional programming in Java, Sprint Boot, REST API Development, Kafka, ELK & Kibana, JUnit, Mockito, Oracle Databases, NO SQL, Cassandra, etc Software delivery leveraging agile practices at scale. Technical ability to understand the architecture, systems, problems, identify patterns, suggest solutions, and make the right decisions. Hands-on experience in building and governing Microservices related to Supply Chain domain. Knowhow of the Front-end technologies such as Micro Front Ends, JavaScript Frameworks like React. Expertise in building highly scalable and transactional customer-facing applications. Good understanding of infrastructure, networks, and security with a focus on security life cycle management and cybersecurity. Experience with building CI/CD and DevOps solutions.

Additional Engineering skillset needed in below key areas,

Implementing, testing and operating advanced software security techniques in compliance with the Williams Sonoma Software Security standards. Develop non functional requirements for the new and existing capabilities in the above functional areas.            Performance Testing of UI, Microservices, Order management capabilities. Working closely with DBA to design relational and non relational databases Proven track record of ownership and technical leadership in the latest platform infrastructure technologies and tech stacks such as Kubernetes, Kafka, etc.

The expected starting pay range for this position is $165,000 - $195,000 annually. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
