What is the opportunity?
The Chief Legal and Administrative Office (CLAO) is expanding our privacy risk management team to include a Senior Manager, Privacy Risk. Our team ensures that RBC’s US Business Segments are equipped to meet all business and regulatory requirements and client expectations in relation to Privacy Risk Management. The Senior Manager, Privacy Risk will be an integral part in strategically planning, overseeing, and managing complex enterprise-wide initiatives as part of RBC’s ongoing plan to improve governance across our RBC US Business Segments. In this role you will oversee the implementation of privacy procedures and controls for RBC’s US Wealth Management (USWM) and Capital Markets (USCM) business segments.
The Privacy Senior Manager will be instrumental in operationalizing a true Three Lines of Defense (3LOD) privacy risk management model to protect client and employee personal information and bolster RBC’s well-earned reputation as a trusted, world-class financial institution. What will you do?
Provide Second Line of Defense oversight and challenge supporting first-line risk owners for USWM and USCM business segments and functionsEnsure USWM and USCM business segments and functions are equipped to meet all business and regulatory requirements and expectations, governing law, and other applicable laws in relation to Privacy Risk ManagementHelp USWM and USCM business segments and functions meet RBC’s commitments to honoring key privacy principles such as accountability, consent, safeguarding, transparency, and appropriate use of personal informationProvide a consolidated view of USWM and USCM Privacy Risk Management risks and practices as part of a coordinated privacy risk management program across RBC’s Combined US OperationsWork width the relevant business stakeholders to ensure privacy regulatory and policy matters are well understood by identifying and escalating execution gaps and ensuring compliance through issues managementMonitor and manage regulatory developments in the US and applicable international jurisdictions and initiate strategies to proactively identify and mitigate emerging privacy and compliance risksPromote and maintain positive regulatory relationships and be a key point of contact for privacy Regulators engaging US-WM and USCM on regulatory compliance issues, exams, investigations and inquiriesLead the completeness of Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) activities, including identifying and managing, trigger events, reviewing and challenging risk assessments and controls, and conducting related monitoring and testingLead the identification and response to Privacy Risk Management requirements and review privacy assessments for processes and third-party engagements whose scope includes personal informationWhat do you need to succeed?
Must-have
5 or more years of experience facilitating privacy risk assessment, providing advisory oversight, managing regulatory compliance, and handling of privacy risk related “incidents”, “issues”, “breaches”, “complaints”, and “events”Deep knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements for Privacy Risk Management for financial institutionsExperience communicating and interacting with one or more regulatory agencies such as OCC, SEC, FDIC, Federal Reserve, FINRA, and NYSDFS, including inquiry and breach managementDemonstrated analytical skills with a strategic mindset and demonstrated ability to impact and influenceDeadline-driven and results-oriented; able to meet consistently high-quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously.Nice-to-have
CIPP Certification preferred or willingness to complete within 1 yearAbility to facilitate between and influence key decision makersAs RBC’s approach to privacy is very focused on identifying and managing privacy risks, experience implementing risk management frameworks and understanding of the 3LOD model is strongly preferredIAPP, CIPP, or CIPM certificationsWhat’s in it for you?

This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
