Senior Materials Engineer
Position Overview International is hiring! We are seeking a Senior Materials Engineer with experience and a solid technical background that includes materials selection, processing, and analysis. In this role you will participate in cross-functional meetings involving any vehicle system or structure, unsupervised, and have applied- materials knowledge sufficient to be able to quickly grasp material roles, issues, and basic property requirements. Responsibilities Independent work in the core area of responsibility for the Material Laboratories and team. Apply knowledge of material science to supply technical support to engineering, innovation, manufacturing, marketing, outside services, and vendors. Contribute to internal material queries and materials research projects. Evolve material engineering procedures and specifications in area of responsibility. Support development of the material database, material engineering specifications, procedures, and standards for all International. Drive the full integration of the Materials Engineering team in Product Engineering Organization, especially for the upfront phases of product development, through the proactive participation to the FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), PFMEA (Process FMEA) and DVP (Design Validation Plan) definition. Domestic and International travel is required 10% of the time. Working knowledge of properties, processes and appropriate applications in vehicle systems and assemblies in one or more of the following material families: Thermoset and thermoplastic polymers and composite materials used for structural exterior parts. Thermoplastic polymers used in interior/cosmetic parts. Elastomers and elastomeric polymers used in body sealing. Polymeric and elastomeric materials used in parts and components for air and fluid management and sealing in engine, powertrain, and chassis systems. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science At least 2 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience OR Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science Additional Requirements Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
