ResponsibilitiesUnder general supervision, the mechanically savvy individual we seek will perform a variety of electrical, plumbing and carpentry work, handle general building issues and ensure all equipment runs properly and efficiently.
Responsibilities include:
Completing work orders involving the replacement of electrical components, repairing plumbing fixtures, repairing/replacing ceiling tiles, repairing leaking roofs, general carpentry, and other related activitiesBuilding new storage space, office space, sidewalks, retaining walls, and hallwaysInspecting rooftops, walls, walkways, light fixtures, windows, drains, etc, for preventive maintenance needsTroubleshooting and performing various electrical workLocating the cause of general building and process system malfunctionsHandling various plumbing tasks involving a variety of materials (copper, PVC, brass and stainless materials)Evaluating refrigeration system performance and making necessary repairsOrganizing work assignments and small projects where more than one mechanic is neededMonitor Building management System (BMS) and Isensix SystemMaintaining all records and logsPreparing various reportsHandling other related functions as neededNOTE:
The mechanic will rotate with other mechanics and be “on call”.
QualificationsTo qualify, you must have a High School Diploma/GED, 2 years’ experience handling general building issues along with the repair and maintenance of equipment.The ability to operate hand/power tools properly and safely is a must, as is strong problem-solving, organizational, multi-taksing and oral/written communication skills.
Valid driver’s license are required
NYBC vehicle will be used to drive between the 6 Long Island donor sites as needed
Position is overtime eligible and also offers a shift incentive.
For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed hourly salary is $29.00/hr. to $33.00/hr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
