Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Clover Leaf Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead, organize, and coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering and design projects. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the planning, design, and construction phases of mechanical and process engineering projects, ensuring precision and compliance with regulatory standards. This position requires hands-on expertise in mechanical systems, water and waste systems, equipment design, and 3D modeling tools.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, organize, and coordinate mechanical/process engineering tasks for complex projects from planning and design through construction and startup phases. Prepare and review calculations, specifications, and designs relating to P&ID development and mechanical systems. Generate and verify the accuracy of advanced design/evaluation calculations, drawings, and specifications. Utilize advanced 3D modeling software (e.g., SmartPlant S3D) to originate, produce, and review drawings of significant complexity. Direct and review work performed by other designers, ensuring compliance with project specifications and regulatory standards. Conduct field system walkdowns to interpret requirements, generate detailed designs, and update existing drawings based on field observations. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring smooth integration of designs across various engineering disciplines.

Qualifications:

Education Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in design, estimating, and construction document preparation (nuclear industry experience preferred). Alternatively, a two-year accredited degree in a related field with 20+ years of relevant work experience or a combination of education and 22 years of directly related experience if non-degreed.

Minimum Qualifications:

U.S. Citizenship is required. Proficiency in 3D modeling tools, including SmartPlant (S3D preferred), and computer-aided drafting applications. In-depth knowledge of Federal (including Department of Energy Orders), State, and Local codes and standards applicable to mechanical engineering design. Proven experience in drafting and design related to engineering and construction (nuclear industry experience preferred). Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment and handle multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced setting. Successful completion of pre-employment screening, including background checks and drug screening.

Desired Qualifications:

Significant experience with SmartPlant (S3D) or similar 3D modeling software. Previous experience in nuclear industry projects, particularly with DOE facilities.
