The Opportunity 

We have an opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who is looking for technically challenging work on cutting edge projects, to become a permanent member of our creative, friendly Building Engineering Team in the Midlands (based in either the Nottingham or Birmingham offices). You will be a key part of a multidisciplinary, collaborative team of 110+ Engineers and Technicians between the two offices. Our projects are global and will allow you to work with and succeed in an international, multi-cultural business environment. You will work on some of the most exciting and innovative buildings across the world with leading architects. The team are currently involved in projects world-wide from concept design through to practical completion. Current and recent projects include rail work, significant science and industry projects in the UK, education sector at local universities and complex/sustainable residential and healthcare works.

You will be actively involved in driving the design and delivery of building services systems with experience in all aspects of your discipline as well as developing system strategies, including communication with the project team and relevant parties. You will have experience of directing the comfort and thermal analysis of buildings and spaces, managing the production of models, drawings, reports and specifications to budgets and deadlines and supervising and coordinating the work of others, including other disciplines and in-house specialists.  Experience in the Science, Industry and Technology sector at detailed design stage or Rail buildings at all DAL stages.

We are looking to speak to people who:

Are a Chartered Engineer (or working towards chartership) with experience in the field of Building Services Engineering and have a broad range of hands-on experience in systems, installations and project sectors.  Actively support the performance, work and development of others, providing guidance, training, and motivational and directional feedback. Have knowledge and interest in sustainable building design in terms of both energy and carbon, challenging yourself and the rest of the design team to achieve the optimum outcome for the project.
Have strong commercial awareness and experience in predicting, planning and managing resource requirements to achieve financial targets. Have experience in using and leading the use of energy modelling software, ideally IES.
