Environmental, Operations and Construction (EOC) operates within HDR’s Federal Business Group, capable of delivering services across all HDR business groups at any location. Our work is performed by our professional staff, scientists and engineers at remote sites, embedded in client office space or our own facilities. EOC delivers quality engineering, environmental, and construction management services at competitive prices.
This position is responsible for cradle-to-grave execution of design and construction projects on Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, and may supervise one or more project coordinators.
Primary Responsibilities
Coordinate the work of Mechanical Engineers with the balance of a multidiscipline team throughout the entire project's developmentDevelops and produces engineering specifications and cost estimates using specifications guides, engineering handbooks, building construction cost data, manufacturers publications, engineering standards for types of materials, fire and safety codes, and other published materialCoordinates and reviews engineering plans and specifications for compliance with federal and state regulations,and ensures that design formats comply with applicable guidance.Prepares and ensure specifications, drawings, unit price book (UPB), and required documents are ready for solicitation and award of follow-on contracts for contracts including, but not limited to: Simplified Acquisition of Base Engineering Requirements (SABER), Multiple Award Construction Contract (MACC), Roofing, Paving, and Protective Coatings Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts and Architect Engineering (A-E) IDIQ contractsParticipates in the construction planning process by investigating proposed projects to obtain field data, check existing facilities and utilities, and to conceptualize the scope of the completed project.Work independently on small projects, or assist more-senior engineers on larger projectsPrepares modification/alteration design specifications considering existing structures, utilities, facilities and other considerations of projects that are not readily apparent.Applies a practical knowledge of engineering methods, techniques, architecture, and historical project data to ensure project requirements are complete.Ensures daily job site construction inspections and inspection reports of several concurrent construction projects are conducted to monitor contractor compliance with engineering plans, specifications, contractual obligations, and governing laws and regulations.Perform other duties as neededPreferred QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in other engineering discipline with a Mechanical PE is acceptable.Minimum of 15 years of relevant experiencePrior Base on Site (BOS) and/or DOD experienceRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering A minimum of 10 years in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings Professional Engineer (PE) license Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, MS Project and AutoCAD Demonstrated leadership skills, previous team coordination and project management experience Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
