Burns McDonnell is seeking well-rounded and self-driven Senior Mechanical Engineering to join our Energy global practice.This position will be responsible for the design and evaluation of mechanical systems associated with coal and natural gas-fired generation facilities as well as associates support facilities.
The candidate will be responsible for front-end planning/preliminary design/code analysis; final design including bidding document and specification preparation; construction administration including review of compliance submittals and resolution of construction issues; and interfacing with Burns McDonnell project managers, equipment suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, detailers, and designers. This person will perform work that involves conventional engineering practices but may involve a variety of complex features.
Responsibilities:
Executes complex assignments related to electrical power generating station design requiring the use of advanced techniques, resulting in the development of new or improved processes, equipment and/or technological methods.Directs coordination with clients and other external contacts.Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced staff members.Regularly meets and corresponds with clients or outside personnel.Responsible for project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.Responsible for project kickoff including development of scope of work, site investigation, data collection, project budgeting, project scheduling, and project setup.During design phase, responsible for design oversight and project coordination of design team, interface with client personnel, monthly progress reporting, budget updates and forecasting.During construction phase, responsible for coordination with site manager to respond to RFIs and questions.Will coordinate with Department Managers to assign an engineering team.Must develop familiarity with internal and client standards and procedures.Other duties as assigned.
