Senior Medical Assistant, Surgical Oncology

ChristianaCare is hiring a Senior Medical Assistant for Surgical Oncology at the Helen F. Graham Center in Newark, DE.

This role is responsible for supporting patients and providers in our Surgical Oncology office. This practice employs 4.0 surgeons and 1.0 APC FTE.  Our medical assistants are responsible for all rooming, chaperoning, supporting office procedures, patient checkout, chart prep, phone triage, Cerner desktop and some authorizations.

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30p

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

You will be involved in rooming patients for virtual and on-site procedures, taking and recording patient vitals, performing point of care testing, injections, medication administration, and EKGs, assisting clinicians with examinations and procedures, preparing exam/treatment rooms with necessary supplies and equipment, completing patient-specific paperwork, ensuring EMR is up-to-date, ensuring adequate staff coverage, participating in new hire orientation, handling patient call backs, sterilizing medical equipment, handling prior authorizations, referrals, and medical refills, scheduling tests, procedures, and surgeries, performing quality control on POCT equipment, providing documentation assistance, performing clerical duties, and ordering and maintaining office clinical supplies and equipment.

Education Requirements:

High School Graduate or GED required.A graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program or hold current Medical Assistant Certification by a national organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).2 years’ experience as a Medical Assistant is required; 3 years’ experience is preferred. ​
