As our Senior Coder, you will help ensure accurate medical coding and billing for our clients to optimize revenue cycle management. Every day you will review production and quality reports to ensure diagnostic and procedure codes were applied appropriately and provide feedback and guidance to coding teams. To thrive in this role, you must have experience running and analyzing coding reports, family practice coding experience, and carry an AHIMA or AAPC coding certificate: CPC or CSS.
Here’s what you will experience working as a Senior Medical Coder:
Review productivity and quality reports to ensure accurate and compliant coding practices according to current coding guidelines, regulations, and best practices
Fill in coding production gaps as needed: assigns codes for diagnoses, treatments and procedures according to the appropriate classification system for professional service encounters to determine the highest level of specificity ICD-10 codes, CPT codes, HCPCS codes, and modifiers
Identify coding discrepancies (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, modifiers) and provide feedback to coding staff to improve accuracy; provide ongoing guidance clinical staff, coding teams, and internal departments on trends
Assist in developing and implementing coding policies and procedures in collaboration with clinical and coding teams
Abides by the Standards of Ethical Coding as set forth by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) adheres to official coding guidelines
Required Skills:
High school diploma or GED
AAPC or AHIMA Certified coding professional: CPC, CCS
Strong understanding of medical terminology, healthcare documentation
In depth knowledge of coding guidelines including ICD-10, HCPCS, and CPT and E/M coding as demonstrated through work experience as a medical coder in multiple specialties, adapting to coding changes
Ability to navigate Cerner and use Excel for reporting and data analysis
For this US-based position, the base pay range is $18.58 - $29.49 per hour .
