**Description**
Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is actively seeking a driven Geologic/minim Engineer to support on-going research and development efforts and develop new business in technologies for functional characterization of WMD facilities and their associated design.

Experience in tunneling and/or mining underground excavation methods and techniques including TBMs, SEM, or drill and blast is preferred. The Geologic/Mining engineer will be a member of our on-site team, who are recognized for providing technically superior solutions to complex and challenging problems.

+ Engineer precise load calculations, system sizing, and performance predictions
+ Create and refine detailed technical drawings and schematics

+ Collaborate seamlessly with project managers, architects, and contractors
+ Present compelling project reports and updates to stakeholders

+ Advance reverse engineering capabilities

+ Work mostly on-site and will have extensive interaction with customers, clients, and other contractors.
**Senior Mining Engineer Required Qualifications**
+ **US Citizenship Required**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Geologic Engineering, Mining Engineering or similar 10-12 years relevant work experience OR MS with 8-10 years of relevant work experience
+ **Active** **Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility**
+ Due to the work you will perform and interactions with the intelligence community and DoD programs, a TS/SCI security clearance is preferred, but a TS security clearance with SCI eligibility is accepted
+ Ability to clearly express in writing technical analysis results
+ Team player with excellent written and oral communication skills and a proactive attitude
+ Ability to communicate highly technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences
+ Relocation to Reston, VA
**Senior Mining Engineer Desired Qualifications**
+ Master's degree in Geologic Engineering, Mining Engineering or similar
+ 10 years of experience in solving engineering/science problems
+ Military or defense-related experience and an understanding of operational planning and functional defeat of hard targets and underground facilities
+ Background or experience with Lidar collection and data processing and analysis
**This offer is contingent upon contract award and in certain cases approval of your qualifications for the position by the Prime contractor and the government agency.**
