eBay, Inc. seeks Senior MTS, Architect in San Jose, CA

Job Duties: Build and maintain eBay’s home page frontend engineering stack and evolve the capabilities of the home page/vertical landing pages/spotlight/events & deals platform in Buyer Experience Organization. Oversee aspects of the software lifecycle: design, development, testing, and experimentation. Design, develop and deploy large-scale applications and solve challenging customer facing problems. Propose and implement working prototypes for testing new ideas. Drive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews. Estimate engineering effort, plan execution cycles, and rollout system changes. Identify and address performance bottlenecks, optimize for speed and SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Write clean, maintainable code for projects, and create a high performant delightful experience for customers. Ensure code quality and maintainability by evolving architecture, refactoring, standards, and improving build and test systems. Work closely with product managers, engineering leaders, and scientists and collaborate with partner teams to innovate and execute a challenging roadmap. Partner effectively and influence peers, juniors, and seniors both within the organization and across eBay. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

 Special Skill Requirements:

1.    Building software solutions in an engineering environment using Shell Scripting, JavaScript and TypeScript, and using RDBMS such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL databases (3 years).
2.    Software engineering proficiency in Object Oriented Design (OOD) and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) (3 years).
3.    Hands on experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies (3 years).
4.    Networking security experience in building applications with Secure Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTPS) and Secure Socket Layer (SSL) (3 years).
5.    Building software in cloud environments (3  years).
6.    Managing and building Containerized applications, using Docker, Kubernetes, or similar applications. (3 years).
7.    Building software solutions that scale across domains using testing frameworks such as Jest, Testing library, or Cypress (3 years).
8.    Designing and developing large scale systems using Node JS, REST Services, and GraphQL (3 years).
9.    Building end to end distributed systems with Elastic Search and Caching systems such as Redis (2 years).

Salary: $226,158.00-262,900.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
