Senior NDT Quality Inspector

Trinity Rail is hiring a Senior NDT Quality Inspector at our Vidor, TX site.

As a member of the Maintenance/Repair Services team at Trinity, you’ll perform Non-Destructive Testing for preventive maintenance and on structural and mechanical repairs. You'll follow appropriate procedures and diagnostic inspection for determining and approving work orders.

What you'll do:

Should have certifications in at least three or more NDT methods. Must have VT II certification or CWI Independently applies and uses quality science Extensive experience in use of inspection tools and measuring equipment Ability to perform on-the-job NDT training and provide guidance of trainees Assist in the completion of all tasks to meet deadlines  Inspect in accordance with tank car qualification procedures to ensure compliance with FRA, AAR, Trinity Industries, and other customer requirements.  Have knowledge and understanding of welding and welding inspection  Utilize basic hand tools  Accurately measure to specifications  Basic mechanical aptitude to read drawings and ability to use railroad gauges, testing techniques and test equipment.  Work from blueprints or other specifications/schematics  Accurately complete inspection documentation as required. Ability to comprehend and quickly learn complex procedures, standards and regulations.  Follow all safety rules and practices  May be involved in safety committees or initiatives  Perform other duties as assigned  Ability to communicate technical information  Enter tank cars via a manway opening approximately 20 inches in diameter

What you’ll need:

High school diploma or equivalent Previous railroad repair experience is preferred but not required  Minimum 2 years of experience Knowledge of industry specific tests and test equipment Previous experience in quality control/assurance in a manufacturing environment is preferred Working knowledge of computers, operating systems and Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel) Certified in three methods of any of the following: Liquid Penetrant Test Method (PT)  Visual Test Method (VT) Remote Visual Test Method (RVI) Leak Testing Test Method (BLT)  Ultrasonic Thickness Test Method(UTT) Ultra Sonic Shear wave (UT Flaw) Individuals should possess documented classroom training hours and experience hours for the NDT method employed Ability to obtain NDT Level II certifications in accordance with Trinity Rail’s written practice  Must have a valid Driver’s License and clean Driving record.
