AT&T Undersea Cable Operations and Maintenance team is responsible for managing multiple undersea cable systems that land at AT&T’s 12 undersea cable stations distributed from Guam to the US Virgin Islands. This includes local operations of the cable stations, contract and regulatory support for the various cables/sites, and facilitating connectivity.
As a Senior Network Design Engineering member of the AT&T Undersea Network Administration Team, you will be responsible for the management and connection of undersea cable system capacities supporting AT&T and multiple global telecom carriers. Candidate will write engineering orders for connectivity and provide technical expertise to global peers/partners/customers within and outside the company in managing cable capacity.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Facility engineering and design; Works closely with AT&T personnel in engineering, provisioning, maintenance, and cable station operations to implement capacity (mainly 10G and 100G) in undersea networks; Works daily with other global telecom companies in provisioning and managing undersea capacity and assets in AT&T and non-AT&T locations
Inventory management: tracking of undersea cable equipment and capacity assets, including inventory updates driven by network upgrades and retirements; Use data to for analysis supporting regulatory reporting and licensing, network planning, and capacity restoration
Maintaining cost allocation models (Excel); Frequent interaction with finance in support of capital and expense billing, using cost allocation models maintained by employee; Models are record of each cable’s capacity allocation among the users/owners
Contract management/compliance; Support development and compliance with undersea cable contracts to ensure installation, provisioning, and interconnection are consistent with contract terms and conditions; Managing relationships with suppliers and customers in developing and executing network requirements and contracts
Project management: provide support and direction to capacity and cable projects, including coordinating activities with suppliers, customers, and operations teams in implementing capacity and cable projects
Analysis/Problem Solving: Uses knowledge of procedures, specific network designs, and team relationships in resolving issues; Finds innovative ways to build/manage cost allocation and capacity management models
Communication: Actively builds and promotes good working relationships across functional, cultural, and geographic boundaries
Desired Qualifications:
Undersea cable network architecture (design, facility engineering, provisioning, maintenance, restoration, and/or capacity management)
Knowledge of DWDM transport technologies
AT&T facility/circuit engineering processes and systems
Network Inventory Management
Contract Management
Supplier Relationship Management
Project Management
MS Excel (Advanced) and other MS programs (Word, PowerPoint)
Required Experience:
3+ years of related experience
Desired Education:
Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) preferred

Our Senior Network Design Engineering earns between $105,600 - $158,400 annually. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
