Job summary

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for analyzing problems, gathering requirements, design, and testing network architecture and solutions, and will focus on developing and maintaining tools to administer our production DNS networks at DigiCert, most notably UltraDNS and DNS Made Easy, industry-leading solutions in the DNS space. The DNS platforms are modern, globally scaled networks with POPs in six continents and managed with both proprietary and open-source automation software, including ansible.

Upon joining our team, you'll have the opportunity to help lead integration efforts for one DigiCert DNS solution and be responsible to architect & develop greenfield projects, as well as responsibilities for on-going maintenance & troubleshooting of existing systems.

 

What you will do

Develop scalable network designs, solutions, policies, and recommendations for mission critical DNS networks. Identify, research, evaluate, deploy and maintain network-related tools and emerging network technologies, with an emphasis on automation, including automation software, scripts and tools, managing mission critical production networks. Evaluate and test upgrades to network equipment such as routers and switches. Document new and existing network deployments according to standards. Drive revenue growth through the creative development of new products and services. Participate as network security Subject Matter Expert both internally and externally. Develop and maintain automation software, scripts and tools for managing production networks and advise developers on automation necessary for network management & visibility. Advise support team to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Serve as mentor to the other engineering team members. Closely partner with information security to ensure security compliance. Participate in rotating on-call schedule with several other team members. Provide third-tier support.

 

What you will have

12+ years of network engineering in ISP/CSP environments. 4-year college degree (BA or BS) or equivalent. Expert level understanding of global Internet network architectures. Extensive operational experience with the BGP routing protocol and superior BGP routing protocol troubleshooting skills. Experience with global anycast service design and traffic engineering methods, specifically global anycast DNS and DNS traffic engineering experience a plus. Extensive operational experience with carrier-class routers and switches from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Arista. Experience with network automation tools, including configuration management such as Ansible, Chef or Puppet, git-based development workflows and Python development are a plus. Experience with network monitoring systems architecture in a globally-distributed network. Enterprise private networking and AWS networking experience, including site-to-site VPNs, GRE tunnels. Must be able to work independently and be a self-starter. Must have excellent written and communication skills. Must demonstrate creative problem-solving skills.
