Job DescriptionGDIT is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to help support our Defense Logistics Agency Information (DLA) Operations Enterprise Enclave (IOEE) and Information Secure Enterprise Enclave (IOSEE) Engineering Support Services program in Springfield, VA.

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will support network engineering design and implementation of technology refreshes.  The selected candidate will work under general supervision, developing requirements from inception to conclusion.  Our team consists of multiple senior engineers, and it is expected that each manage assigned projects and tasks and regularly provide status updates to contract leadership and the customer.  The candidate should have strong knowledge of route/switch protocols, voice/video, IPv6, compliance with STIG requirements, wireless technology, firewalls, and other network devices.

Selected candidate will work under general supervision, providing engineering support for enterprise network equipment and services. Develop solutions for simple to moderately complex Wide Area Network (WAN) problems.  Possess knowledge of current and anticipated network equipment, including Cisco Catalyst switches and routers. Possess understanding of Tier III & IV troubleshooting for a network consisting of sites across CONUS and OCONUS, utilizing an array of ethernet and legacy connections over L3VPN, full DISN, commercial and hybrid provider services in both classified and unclassified enclaves. Coordinate with contract PM, team lead, commercial vendor and DISA POCs to ensure successful integration of circuit modernization and similar technical efforts.

Please note that although this position is mainly remote, at this time, the employee must report into the Springfield GDIT office on Mondays. As this program supports SIPR work, the Network Engineer is expected to go into the DLA facility as needed to complete their SIPR work. The schedule will adjust based on work requirements at a given time, but again Mondays are the current mandatory day at the GDIT office. This position requires up to 25% of travel both Contiguous United States (CONUS) and Outside the Contiguous United States (OCONUS) to DLA sites.

How the Senior Network Engineer role will make an impact:Planning, performing, and documenting laboratory assessments of hardware and software for both the classified and unclassified DISN Services to ensure proper connectivity and operations between the DLA WAN, the DLA's NOC, and DISA's NOCs.Coordinating with the government customer to create a Technology Assessment Plan (TAP) to include the objectives, scope, equipment and configurations, technical approach, procedures, schedules, and roles and responsibilities required to complete the DLA LAN technology refresh and upgrades. These assessments may include independent cost estimates.Preparing After Action Reports (AAR) that document the approach taken, results, recommendations and supporting rationale.Identifying new and emerging network capabilities as well as developing product evaluation and selection criteria.Developing system evaluations methods and procedures.Producing formal documentation of recommendations for executive briefings.Ensuring interoperability between DLA WAN and DISN network equipment and services.Planning and tracking of implementation tasks.Creating necessary supporting configuration artifacts such as network maps, detailed designs, test plans, operations readiness test reports, device configurations, and maintenance processes and procedures.Maintain active SIPRNet account and access regularly through DLA HQ.Perform as on-call engineer for both NIPR and SIPR incidents. One weekly rotation every two-three months.Able to travel up to 25% to both CONUS and OCONUS DLA sites.

What you’ll need to succeed (Required):Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years related technical experience required.  An additional 4 years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree. Active Secret security clearance required with the ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.  In addition, candidates must possess a favorable Tier 5 investigation and valid US Passport.  Passport may be obtained within first 60 days from hire date.Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification required.IAT Level III Certified (must have ONE of the following): CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH.Must be willing to obtain a Check Point Certified Security Administrator (CCSA) within 4 months from start of employment/hire.Network engineering experience in unclassified and classified environments.Familiarity with Standard LAN/WAN protocols, BGP, MPLS and LDP in a service provider environment.Experience with network design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.Experience with device configuration (multi-vendor environment).Experience with wired, wireless, voice, and video technologies.Ability to manage multiple assigned projects and report status and implementation plans.Hybrid Work Schedule - Must report onsite in Springfield, VA once a week (Mondays) as indicated above.

What you’ll need to succeed (Desired):Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise.Check Point Certified Security Expert (CCSE) (CCSE preferred over CCSA).Azure Fundamentals, CompTIA Cloud+ and AWS Cloud Practitioner.
