Senior Network Engineer - Top Secret/SCI Day Shift

GDIT is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to help support the JSP ETM-NG program at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA.

Day Shift Work Schedule: Monday - Friday - 7:00-3:30 (flexible) 

Due to the nature of work this role entails, telecommuting is not allowed and will require the employee to report full-time onsite.

At GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a Senior Network Engineer supporting JSP ETM-NG, you will be trusted to review and evaluates information technology (IT) infrastructure and systems to ensure adherence to company and customer quality standards. In this role, a typical day will include:

How the Senior Network Engineer will make an impact:

·        Designs, plans, and builds communications networks.

·        Configures routers and switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems and VPN concentrators with appropriate network engineering and communications protocols.

·        Coordinates LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements and/or enhancements.

·        Monitors the network utilizing industry leading technologies.

·        Provides innovative methods and technical solutions using the engineering design process.

·        Plans implementation of enhancements.

·        Analyzes customer requirements and provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.

·        Performs maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and networks.

·        Maintains network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintains system backup and recovery capability.

·        Coordinates the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed.

·        Creates plans and configures systems for data communication networks.

·        Evaluates new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.

·        Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

·        Designs and builds the hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks.

·        Provides guidance and leadership to less-experienced network personnel.

What you'll need to be successful:

·        Possess the understanding and hands-on experience with complex architectures and enterprise information systems to include: Enterprise level network (WAN) engineering experience in: Routing, Design, Configuration, Traffic Shaping with Policy based routing or Route-maps, troubleshooting and support of mid to large sized network environments. Experience working with and managing OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, BGP Policy based routing, Quality of Service (QoS), IGMP Multicasting, VPNs, ACLs, MPLS, IP, NAT. Experience working with LAN technologies to include VLANs, VRFs, Port-channels and VPCs. Working knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, Arista and Aruba platforms.

·        Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance

·        Bachelors’ Degree in a related field OR work experience in lieu of degree.

·        5+ years of experience in Network Administration

·        IAT Level II certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M

·        One of the following Networking Certifications - Brocade, Cisco (CCNA/CCNP), Juniper (JNCIA/JNCIS/JNCIP), Aruba

·        Must have hands-on experience/knowledge with Aruba networking systems

·        Willing to report onsite as indicated above.
