Job DescriptionOversees the development and implementation of technical packaging projects/programs, utilizing technical packaging knowledge, that deliver pragmatic and integrated solutions and services to meet customer initiatives, product launches, process improvements and other strategies and objectives for the customer. Enhance customer relationship by working closely with customer on new product and solution development utilizing technical packaging design for manufacturing knowledge. In this role, you are key part of a global account team and will collaborate on projects with RRD members from our global team, primarily in North America and Asia, so a flexible schedule, travel, and video calls with clients and team members is required. This is a hybrid role and the employee must be based in the Austin, TX area.
Utilize technical competency, relevant work experience, as well as comprehensive & diverse package engineering knowledge to generate valid creative solutions.Coordinate all packaging design related resources and activities: Account management, structural design, graphic design/premedia, package engineering, quality assurance, solution development, and logistics.Project Management: Responsible for executing work plans, managing deadlines, coordinating internal and external project activities and collaborating with cross-functional team members in the delivery of projects.Maintain post-sale contact with customers in order to facilitate a positive and productive long-term relationship. Provide tactical support to sales and management, providing information regarding customer issues, needs and opportunities.Manage the overall packaging design schedule through creative development, design production and final delivery. Work strategically with clients on project planning requirements.Evaluate ongoing progress and status of projects, track progress against milestones, manage issue resolution and take corrective action as needed.Provide accurate and communication to project team on all business, creative, legal and technical requirements of a project.Communicate with all levels of the organization regarding the project status, issues, approvals, risks and other pertinent information. Resolve issues that may arise during production of customer products. Document all assumptions, dependencies, tasks and milestones. Responsible for the account management activities during and after the sale to enable the Sales representatives to focus on selling activities. Respond to customer requests and inquiries regarding current and future work. Primary day-to-day liaison between the client and RR Donnelley’s Premedia, print production and distribution facilities as well as the RR Donnelley account team.Utilize package and print engineering knowledge to identify continuous improvement of existing printed items and opportunities to transition print programs to a digital application.Consult with customers to understand business issues and goals, and works with customer to develop improved solutions to business needs. Prepare summary reports for Sales Representative and Sales Management identifying customer needs and opportunity to secure new business. Develop and prepare sales product presentations for use on up-sell opportunity for the accounts managed and assist Sales with the development of sales collateral for new business opportunities.Assist sales in the preparation of RFPs and RFQs on the accounts managed.Maintain up to date knowledge of industry trends , new products, specifications, competitor strengths and weaknesses and communicates new information to Sales Representatives.May be involved in specific customer projects as assigned by sales management.QualificationsBachelor degree in Packaging, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering and 10+ years of relevant work experience. Masters of Science in Packaging, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering preferred. Requires a solid understanding in the areas of Design, Print and Packaging, Supply Chain Management and Logistics processes. Must have experience in Graphic Packaging Engineering. Project management experience required.Ability to apply broad work experience and knowledge when analyzing complex problems. Must be able consistently identify critical elements, variables and alternatives to develop solutions. Ability to organize and prioritize existing resources and incorporate new information, as needed, to implement the most effective solutions. Must be able to multi-task.Able to identify the impact of events or decisions on stakeholders/customers and make recommendations. Proven ability to review all facts and weigh and prioritize the costs, benefits, risks, or chances for success on business initiatives.Accurately and consistently identify parameters, limitations, and/or boundaries that impact business decisions.Able to demonstrate a high degree of creativity, innovation, analytical skills, organizational skills, and self-direction in completing highly complex and diverse assignments. RRD's current pay range for this role is $106,400 to $165,900 / year. The pay range may be adjusted based on the applicable geographic location of the hired employee, and the range may change in the future. It is not typical for the final salary offered to be near or at the top of the range. Starting pay decisions are determined based on multiple factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, skills, experience, certifications, proficiency, performance, shift, location, and other business needs. Depending on the role, in addition to base salary, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.
