Job SummaryMaintains shift accountability for the provision of Nutrition Services in a cost effective/efficient manner. Monitors the delivery of high-quality food and nutritional services to Corewell Health patients, employees and visitors. May make decisions of a non-routine nature to provide solutions for persistent departmental concerns.
Essential FunctionsTeaches and maintains correct sanitation and personal hygiene procedures throughout assigned areas, e.g., following proper dress code. Completes assigned quality assurance monitors.Applies reasonable judgment to the interpretation of hospital and departmental policies and procedures.Responsible for the training of new staffOversees day-end cash out and daily deposits. Makes cash register program changes, when applicable.Ensures proper preparation and services of meals. Ensures proper storage of food items as required, labeling and dating items per standard.Routinely participates in selected quality monitoring activities such as taking and recording food, refrigeration, dish machine temperatures, and other related quality assurance activities.Prepares and maintains serving lines including dishes, silverware, hot and cold food items, condiments, etc. Prepares and assembles cold food items such as salads, desserts and nourishments and ensures that all food and other items used are properly stored, refrigerated and dated.Serves food as directed, replenishing items as needed. Disassembles and cleans food stations after use by wiping counters, steam tables and warmers.Sets up and delivers food carts to patient and other food delivery areas. Retrieves carts and returns them to the dish room for cleaning.Assembles patient trays with appropriate speed, accuracy and appearance. Delivers trays to patients verifying room numbers, bed numbers, birth dates and patient names to ensure delivery to the correct patient.QualificationsRequired
