JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a highly skilled senior member of our Sr. Observability Solutions Engineering to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with application and engineering teams to identify, design, and implement the best monitoring and observability solutions. You'll stay at the forefront of the latest observability technologies and best practices, ensuring our systems are optimally monitored and issues are proactively addressed. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborate with application and engineering teams to understand their monitoring and observability needs.Design and implement effective observability solutions using tools such as AppDynamics, Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.Stay updated with the latest trends, tools, vendors, and best practices in observability.Develop and enhance observability solutions, ensuring they meet the requirements of application teams and owners.Create proof-of-concept (POC) and minimum viable product (MVP) solutions, handing them off to the automation team for further development.Work with on-premises VMs, containers, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and other cloud technologies.Utilize APIs for integration and data gathering across various observability tools.Write and maintain scripts using PowerShell or Python for automation and process enhancement.Leverage automation tools like Ansible, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions to streamline observability tasks.Self-manage projects and timelines, ensuring deliverables are met.

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

5+ years of experience in IT operations, system administration, or engineering, with at least 3 years of experience as an individual contributor involved in large-scale projects.2 or more years of experience with Open Source observability tools i.e. OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or Grafana.3 or more years of experience with advanced scripting skills in PowerShell and/or Python.2 or more years of experience navigating and leveraging cloud API’s (Azure, AWS, GCP).

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

Extensive experience in designing and implementing observability solutions.Proficiency with observability tools such as AppDynamics, Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.Strong understanding of APIs and their integration with observability tools.Hands-on experience with on-premises VMs, containers, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and other cloud technologies.Advanced scripting skills in PowerShell and/or Python.Familiarity with automation tools like Ansible, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions.Ability to manage projects independently and effectively communicate with various teams.Proven ability to stay current with the latest observability technologies and best practices.Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or equivalent work experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$83,430.00 - $166,860.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
