Summary of Job Duties:The Senior Environmental and Chemical Hygiene Coordinator works under the direction of the Chemical Hygiene Officer (CHO). The Senior Environmental and Chemical Hygiene Coordinator duties include, but are not limited to: assisting with development and implementation of programs related to handling, storing, transporting, and disposal of hazardous chemicals and chemical waste. They will serve as a member of the spill response team that responds to incidents and emergencies. They will stay up-to-date with regulatory changes and update SOPs and policies as necessary, as well as, develop, review, and update trainings and/or policies/procedures related to general laboratory safety as well as safe handling, storing, transporting, and disposal of hazardous chemicals.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Studies, Safety, or related fieldThree (3) or more years of experience in related field. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.); technical writingMust be able to perform physical activities including lifting of materials up to 50 lbs. unassisted; maneuvering 30 gallon drums using a hand truck or drum dolly. Must medically qualify to wear a respirator and other PPE, as needed. Position requires frequent exposure to hazardous chemical and radioactive wastes.Preferred Qualifications:
Three (3) or more years of experience in occupational health and safety with a focus on occupational and/or industrial hygiene and workplace safety. Three (3) years of experience with chemical waste processes and regulatory compliance.Three(3) years of experience with various environmental permit regulatory compliance (Air, Water, Hazardous Waste, etc.).Three (3) years of experience of technical writing.Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements. Current OSHA HAZWOPER 40 Hour / 8 hours annual refresher. RCRA initial training with 8 hours annual refresher. Must be obtained with 12 months of hire, training provided by UAMS.
