About this opportunity:

Cenovus’s Operations Process Engineering team is seeking a Senior Operations Process Engineer based in our Calgary office. 

As a Senior Operations Process Engineer at Cenovus Energy, you can contribute to our world-class production goals by improving value extraction from our Sunrise SAGD facility. You will play a key role in improving plant performance, identifying bottlenecks, and finding solutions to make value-accretive decisions consistently. This role focuses on optimizing opportunities to increase production, lower operating expenses, improve safety, and minimize environmental impact.

What you’ll do:

Optimize SAGD facilities for maximum efficiency within our Safe Operating Limits (SOLs). Identify bottlenecks and scope new projects to improve throughput. Solve production-impacting plant issues quickly and minimize operating costs.

Identify facility bottlenecks, find efficient solutions, present to CORE/OMM for approval and funding, and provide SME mentorship to Facility Engineering or Major Projects teams implementing the solutions.

Collaborate with other surface and subsurface teams, such as production engineering, capital projects process engineering, facility engineering, field operations, reliability & integrity engineering, and operations technology teams to drive short- and long-term improvements

Lead several high-priority projects and provide mentorship to young engineers at the Sunrise site

Act as an SME for process safety investigations, PTR coordination, and revalidation Hazops and ORAs

Travel to site to meet with team members located at Sunrise, plus develop relationships with key stakeholders at site (mainly Operations)

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

Legally authorized to work in Canada

University degree in Engineering or equivalent experience, with P. Eng. designation from APEGA / APEGS

8+ years of experience

Skills in SAGD, with significant depth and breadth of knowledge in Operations Process Engineering and a strong understanding of other core SAGD functions
