SUMMARY
The Senior Engineer, Operational Excellence (OPEX) will act as a lead for productivity project implementation within the Yankee Candle Manufacturing Facility. They will act as an advisor to all departments and will participate in other cross-functional project teams supporting the effective use of manpower and materials to achieve measurable improvements within the facility. The Senior Engineer, OPEX will be a change agent responsible for leading the plant into a results driven, team-oriented culture that embraces continuous improvement through project completion and the implementation of PEAK (Planning, Engagement, Achievement, Knowledge) in all plant functions. A strong background in process improvement principles (Lean, Six Sigma, and/or TPM) is required for this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Actively leads and drives the implementation of the Lean Sigma Optimization (LSO) PAC for PEAK at the site Align CI initiatives with the Overarching Strategic Plan and PEAK implementation strategy Coach and facilitate the leadership team through the integration of CI methods and strategy Build capability and deploy systems to optimize value streams and work processes Leads day-to-day activities of the Lean Team Mentors productivity project leaders on the use of Six Sigma Tools and Methodologies and Data Analysis. Mentors employees within the plant on the use of Lean Manufacturing Tools. Shares "best practice" methods and ideas across departments. Leads the successful implementation of productivity/process improvement projects within the plant. Completes financial cost analysis (cost savings estimates and return on investment justifications) for productivity/process improvement projects. Makes implementation and results a top priority and regularly updates the leadership team on project progress. Updates cost savings for owned projects on a monthly basis. Will be expected to help deliver annual productivity targets through ideation and project execution.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BSME, BSIE or relevant technical BS Degree. Minimum of 2 – 4 years plant/operations experience. Proven track record of successfully leading Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement projects within a manufacturing environment. Working knowledge of Six Sigma tools and methodology, strong quantitative, analytical and process redesign skills, along with the excellent project management skills are required. Lean manufacturing experience with ability to lead SMED, Kaizen, 5S and TPM events/projects. Good understanding of financial measurements and goals in the Lean/Flow throughput world. Strong facilitation and leadership skills. Excellent communication skills to lead and support empowered employees in a team environment. Strong presentation skills to effectively communicate project progress, results, data analysis, and training delivery. Willing to come in outside of working hours as required by projects. MS Office software skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Minitab. Bottom line-oriented knowledge of financial functions. Able to work with minimum supervision. High energy, self-motivated, enthusiastic, well organized. Able to work in a highly matrixed organization 10% domestic and international travel may be required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
2-4 years Lean Manufacturing experience. Green Belt Certification 5+ years of manufacturing experience. Experience with assembly and packaging of consumer products

Must work effectively in a fast-paced team environment with constant interruptions. Must clearly communicate business goals so associates understand how they contribute to the organization's success. Extensive short-term planning based on established and changing priorities. Involves ongoing problem solving. Must be able to communicate with all departments across the organizational chart. Some irregular hours required.
