WHAT YOU WILL DO:

As a Senior Packaging Engineer, you will design and implement new or revised packaging and labeling for medical devices by recommending QA Control limits and procedures, and by developing and issuing detailed specifications for procurement of packaging components. You will enforce structural specifications and integrity of packaging devices in accordance with quality standards, develop compatible protective packaging for devices, originate and develop new packaging concepts, assess and resolve packaging problems, and works with suppliers for design and development.

Other Responsibilities:  

Research, design, develop, modify, and verify components, modules, and sub-systems for medical device packaging systems with minimal supervisionTranslate user needs to design inputs/specifications to produce system level designs with some guidance. Conduct or design product prototyping and testing. Analyze and correct product design issues with minimal guidanceLead efforts with other departments to gather and incorporate customer inputs on packaging design. Interpret standards and FDA requirements for device packaging and validations. Interpret and apply sterilization requirements/standards to packaging design and validation. Establish test protocols driven by national and international standards and regulatory requirements. Facilitate the testing of new products to verify product reliability. Operate various test equipment, interpret test data, and report results for each validation/verification.  Occasionally delegate testing to technicians as appropriate. Work cooperatively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory and marketing to ensure project success. Research & acquire production material and equipment related to packaging configurations. Train production operators on new processes and procedures. Coordinate documentation of work instructions for new packaging configurations. Create material/equipment specifications. Ability to manage time and resources effectively through good organizational skills and effective use of problem solving skills. Ability to work independently as well as on teams to perform root cause analysis and provide solutions to the root cause. Identify and champion opportunities to promote sustainable packaging designs. Provide direction for project-level packaging solutions. 

WHAT YOU NEED:

Required:

Bachelor of Science in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or other equivalent Engineering2+ years of experience with product packaging design, development, and/or validation.

​​Preferred:

Working knowledge of CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks). Prior experience working in the medical device industry

Travel Percentage: 10%
