Senior Packaging Engineer

We are looking for a **Senior Packaging Engineer** to join our R&D team at one of our corporate locations in either Chicago or Omaha.
As a **Senior** **Packaging Engineer** , reporting to the Packaging Director, you will lead new product development, quality improvement, and cost savings projects for Conagra's packaging portfolio. With a focus on sustainability, you'll work on different packaging formats, leading projects and supporting new startups/capacity expansions for specific plants. You'll conduct trials, perform hands-on package testing, and prototyping in our labs and pilot plants. Each engineer owns their space/brands and collaborates with internal and external partners.
Conagra's R&D facilities include dedicated packaging spaces for ideation, design, and prototyping. Engineers have the ability perform in-house package testing and physical prototyping to bring new innovations to life using our top-of-the-line equipment within our labs and other spaces.
**What you'll do:**
+ Lead technical delivery of base business projects and support high complexity technical projects.
+ Develop ideas for savings, innovation, and quality improvements relevant to the business.
+ Collaborate with business and technical peers, external partners, and resources on assigned brand(s).
+ Independently plan, execute, and analyze plant/pilot plant/lab trials, and present results to leadership.
+ Review and develop technical specifications, and maintain understanding of experimental design, performance specs, and CQV design.
+ Maintain awareness of technical trends in the packaging industry and mentor associate engineers.
**What you'll need:**
+ Bachelors in Packaging, Engineering, or related field.
+ 5+ years work experience in packaging industry
+ Experience with packaging materials, capabilities, and equipment, including physical and structural package testing procedures.
+ Understanding of government regulatory requirements in food processing, food safety, sanitary design, and equipment cleaning.
+ Knowledge of food science and its impact on packaging.
+ Financial understanding to improve profitability.
+ We require applicants for this role to be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship either now or in the future.
**Physical Requirements**
+ Exposure to manufacturing environments for periodic extended workdays to include loud noise, excessive heat, cold, wet, and slippery conditions and exposure to allergens.
+ Travel can be up to 40% of the time based on projects but may be less.
You will typically be in the office Monday - Thursday and Fridays are remote.

**Compensation:**
Pay Range:$79,000-$115,000
_The annual salary listed above is the expected offering for this position. An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal Conagra employees’ equity. Conagra Brands will comply with applicable law regarding minimum salaries for exempt employees._
