Senior Packaging Mechanic - 3rd Shift (12 Hours)

Description:

Take complete ownership of all Packaging equipment in all phases, including set-up, operation, maintenance, regularly scheduled preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, spare parts availability, and change parts maintenance. Ensuring all equipment is in good-excellent running condition at all times. Equipment responsibilities include all filling machines, inserters, printers, cartoners, conveyors, and case packers. The individual will be the only individual authorized to set-up the packaging line for commercial, or R&D ANDA runs, or trials. All Packaging equipment qualification efforts will be executed by the mechanic and Engineer. Mechanic will have sole responsibility for all/any adjustments to any piece of equipment that makes up the entire packaging line. Will make recommendations to Sr. Manager as to necessary replacement parts, change parts, tools, or any other piece of equipment needed to increase productivity, efficiency, and/or product quality. Will make recommendations to preventive maintenance tasks and intervals. Will ensure all packaging equipment is in continual state of compliance, including up-to-date calibrations, qualifications, current and accurate SOP's, proper handling and maintenance of change parts. Ensure all safety features in all packaging equipment are operative and in conformance to all OSHA regulations/requirements. Will work closely with R&D folks in execution of R&D batches, providing guidance and making recommendations as to efficiency and proper equipment required for the task.

Essential Functions:

Develop Preventative Maintenance program on all Packaging equipment. Calibrate packaging equipment when scheduled – ensure all packaging equipment is in a continual state of compliance Maintain all Packaging equipment in good/excellent running condition at all times. Set up the filler, cartoner, inserter, printer, conveyor, case packer in an integrated fashion to run as one continuous unit. Assist R&D Team on the packaging end of development projects Participate in investigation resolution, including root cause analysis CAPA’s Ensure all packaging equipment is maintained and operated in a safe condition. Ensure proper guarding on all equipment.Work closely with Safety Leader to ensure OSHA compliance at all times Ensure change parts for all products are on-hand when needed. Ensure all change parts are properly handled and maintained at all times. Perform scheduled Preventive maintenance on all Packaging equipment Participate in the development of training aides on all packaging equipment.Review/generate packaging equipment SOP’s in easy to understand language, Recommend ways to increase efficiency and improve quality in the packaging area Diagnose problems when they arise and troubleshoot all packaging equipment when necessary. Read/interpret/understand PLC’s, pneumatics, wiring diagrams, drawings. Generate “task qualification checklists” for pkg operators (current and new)

Additional Responsibilities:

Train/cross train selective individuals in set-up/operation of fillers/cartoners/printers, etc. Work closely with Safety Leader to ensure OSHA compliance at all times
