The Patient Access Advocate is an integral member of Cigna Medical Group’s multi-disciplinary care team who functions under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse and/or licensed physician supporting patient calls and inquiries. The position provides professional, courteous, and friendly assistance to our customers. The Patient Contact Advocate will receive support (coaching and guidance) from their Team Leads and Supervisors.
Core Responsibilities
Schedule appointments accurately. Meets patient needs by asking questions to determine the best scheduling solution. If necessary, speaks with clinician to ensure timely access. Verify patient coverage and eligibility, complete appropriate paperwork, schedule appointments, update patient chart, and assist with MyChart portal questions. Answer telephone in compliance with departmental procedures and quality metrics. Determine nature of call and routes appropriately and ensures the call is responded to promptly. Obtain detailed information in messages and documents in the Electronic Health Record. Provide clear and all-inclusive documentation of all outreach attempts and conversations to completion in the appropriate designated area provided through CMG.
Minimum Qualifications
High school degree preferred.Computer skills required, particularly experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel.Ability to convey information to customers in a warm, clear, concise manner.Demonstrates positive customer service behaviors.If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
