Senior Payroll Accountant
Description We are offering a long term contract employment opportunity for a Senior Payroll Accountant for one of our clients in Milpitas, California. This role is essential in the finance industry, with a focus on payroll, accounting, and reconciliation duties. The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment where strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills are vital. Responsibilities: • Execute payroll and payroll tax journal entries, including areas such as 401(k), deferred compensation, medical benefits, bonuses, and ESPP. • Prepare and establish formal monthly and quarterly fluctuation analysis for compensation accounts. • Support accounting team in month-end / quarter-end close process. • Maintain compliance with established internal controls and prepare supporting audit schedules. • Work closely with human resources, stock plan administration, benefits, and provide guidance regarding payroll accounting matters. • Support new business or benefit plan initiatives and implement relevant new processes. • Develop, enhance or maintain an effective internal control environment in various aspects of payroll accounting. • Perform all US payroll and payroll tax journal entries. • Prepare payroll and related account reconciliations on a monthly basis. • Work with external auditors during quarterly, interim, and annual audits. Requirements • Possession of excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate with diverse teams and stakeholders. • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, financial modeling, and reporting. • Strong financial reporting skills to maintain accurate records and assist in financial planning. • Comprehensive knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements to ensure all financial operations adhere to legal standards. • Experience in payroll management and understanding of payroll functions. • Proven ability in maintaining quality in all financial operations and reporting. • Experience in Human Resources (HR) administration, particularly in dealing with payroll and benefit functions. • Ability to supervise teams, delegate tasks, and ensure timely completion of projects. • Capability to create and deliver presentations to stakeholders, showcasing financial reports and forecasts. • Extensive knowledge in finance, with ability to conduct external audits and reconciliations. • Experience in managing quarterly financial reports and general ledger. • Familiarity with closing processes in finance and ability to implement new financial procedures. • Knowledge of account reconciliation and journal entries. • Ability to execute financial tasks and enhance productivity. • Experience in process improvement within finance operations. • Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. • Valid professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA). • Proven experience as an Accountant III or similar role. • Strong analytical and strategic planning skills. • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity. • Knowledge of accounting software and databases.
