About This Role

As a Senior Payroll Consultant, you will work with human resources and payroll leadership in identifying payroll system issues, processes and improvements while maintaining compliance with regulations and company policies. This role involves expertise in analyzing and identifying payroll system defects, improvement of internal controls and processes around the payroll system and fixing issues surrounding the prior payroll implementation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll management, compliance, and process optimization, with the ability to identify areas for improvement, reduce errors, and enhance overall payroll efficiency.  This role requires five days a week onsite in Hoffman Estates, IL location.

What You Will Work On Work with management and other consultants to identify issues related to the prior payroll implementation and payroll system. Lead the process improvement initiative to implement system improvements with the help of the information technology team and streamline the payroll process. Document current policies and procedures and offer suggestions to improve the payroll process accuracy and efficiency. Drive alignment with the client's payroll strategy by ensuring policies and procedures are consistently followed, while tracking and assessing team performance against key metrics and service level agreements (SLAs). Lead the planning and execution of payroll processes and services to ensure efficient and reliable operations, identifying opportunities for process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and internal controls. Build and manage relationships with payroll vendors and external service providers to optimize performance, and collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Benefits, HR, IT, and other departments to support payroll initiatives. Provide guidance and leadership to navigate the payroll team through unexpected challenges or changes, ensuring stability, adaptability, and continuous improvement of payroll procedures and controls.
What You Will Bring Bachelor’s degree. 5+ years of experience with payroll software such as ADP, Ceridian, PeopleSoft, Workday, Oracle, and/or Ultimate. ADP highly preferred but not required.  Experience implementing processes and controls over payroll systems including implementing standard operation procedures. Experience with multiple payroll locations and systems. Effective written and oral communication skills, and strong attention to detail Strong problem-solving and consultative skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment. Ability to work in a variety of client environments in a collaborative manner with all departments, employees, and management. Experience working in matrix organizations and complex work environments with a natural ability to drive results through influence and initiative.Ability to work five days onsite weekly in Hoffman Estates, IL.
