Senior Payroll Tax Analyst

The Senior Payroll Tax Analyst acts as a resource for the tax team and conducts all payroll tax activities with a broad application of principles, theories and concepts, providing resolutions to a diverse range of complex problems using judgement within defined policies and practices working under limited direction.  Acts as the subject matter expert for the tax team.

Leads the tax team in the quarterly balancing of payroll tax filings, year-end balancing and W2 processing.  Responsible for providing guidance and validation to research and processing of tax teams agency notices, correspondence and forms to and from governmental agencies. Steps in as back up where needed.

Contributes to Mergers & Acquisitions projects through data conversion of payroll tax data provided, EIB template creation, loading of balances into Workday, entry, validation and posting of deposits into ADP SmartCompliance.  Providing guidance to the tax team as needed for direction of the project, working closely with cross-functional teams as needed.

Performs necessary testing in Workday and ADP for payroll tax related governmental, regulatory and legislative updates, coordinating with the subject manner expert.

Provides guidance on complex tax escalations from the tax team, internal and external customers, with assistance from the Tax Manager as needed.

Acts as back up for all current tax credit filings for Iowa Job Tax Credit, South Carolina Job Tax Credit, and Nevada Commerce Tax Credit with the agencies and through ADP, including SUI Joint Account related items.  Processes quarterly filing, payments and amendments as necessary.

Provides guidance and approval on all quarterly error and adjustment reports needed for quarterly processing, wage and tax adjustments into Workday for W-2 Error reports, working closely with the Payroll Supervisor and Tax Manager.

Provides guidance and approval on W2Cs, wage and tax adjustments, prior quarter and prior year entries and adjustments, working closely with the Tax Manager and Payroll Supervisor.

Responsible for ensuring compliance with all payroll tax related governmental, regulatory and legislative requirements through quarterly balancing of payroll tax filings and tax jurisdictions through researching and resolving differences with taxing agencies; collecting refunds when applicable.  Ensuring accurate employee wage and tax statements (W2’s)

Responsible for the research and follow up on agency notices, W-2C’s and related correspondence and notifications to and from government agencies. Provides guidance on Power of Attorney forms, updating contact and mailing information with agencies, ADP, Equifax, internal and external customers to the Payroll Tax Coordinator.

Participate in PI planning with McKesson and USON teams to recommend and monitor new projects needed to achieve greater efficiency in the payroll tax areas.  Assist in testing and roll out of these projects.

Prepare schedules and analysis for quarterly and annual audits, including participation in annual SOX self-testing audit, ad hoc tax analysis for internal Business Units.  Responds to external, internal and tax agency audit requests.  Manages complex tax escalations.  Carry out special projects from payroll leadership, as needed.

Minimum Job Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities):

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of large multi-state payroll tax experienceKnowledge of Workday and ADP SmartCompliance preferredAbility to manage and prioritize various responsibilities with competing, short deadlinesAbility to work with multiple levels of managementVery strong analytical skills and attention to detailCustomer-orientated with strong ability for issue resolutionStrong written and verbal communication skillsProficient using Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Outlook and Word

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$67,700 - $112,900
