Senior People Partner

We are seeking a talented individual to join our People Function at Marsh McLennan. This role will be based in Toronto. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

As a Senior People Partner (SPP), you will be a senior human capital advisor for Mercer, providing forward-looking strategic HR counsel for executive level business leaders.  You will be responsible for ensuring that the business talent and people strategies across Mercer are aligned to business strategy by establishing strong partnership between business leaders and expert advisors from other parts of HR. Additionally, you will provide management oversight to other People Partners and Human Resources Managers assigned to Canada. As a leader on the Canada People team, your role is central to creating a compelling colleague experience at Mercer and Marsh.

We will count on you to:

Drives execution of the annual Canada People Plan that aligns to the Global People Strategy and supports the local business strategies.

 Evaluate and analyze potential vulnerabilities regarding bench strength and leadership pipelines.  Advise business leaders on leadership development and retention strategies

Oversee the talent review and calibration process alongside leaders, with a keen focus on diversity and succession planning.

Consult with leaders on reward strategy and related initiatives within their businesses

Consult with leaders on organizational effectiveness issues and initiatives within their businesses

Shape and deliver restructuring projects taking responsibility for the business case for change and liaising with HR Managers to execute effectively.

Assist with the delivery of the MMC Canada diversity and inclusion strategy to raise leadership awareness and ensure appropriate integration with all human capital related activities

Champion enterprise culture within business-specific environments and consults with leaders on high level engagement strategies and objectives

Serve as an advisor on complex people-related topics; ensures advice and counsel reflect local legal issues, regulations, and market conditions 

Where required, acts as the senior business representative in employee relations and legal matters

Consult with business leaders, People Services and COEs to deliver metrics to best gauge HR performance (i.e. how well they help to advance business objectives)

Provides peer leadership and guidance to other People Partners within team, including performance reviews, cascade of strategy, consultative direction, and general oversight

What you need to have:

A minimum of 7 experience in HR roles ideally experiencing operational and strategic aspects of HR.

Demonstrated ability to operate at the senior levels in the business, recognized as an experienced advisor to senior leaders, informing business strategies and priorities.

Demonstrated experience in using metrics and technology to shape any process improvement of the execution of some deliverables.

Commercially oriented mindset, experienced in creating and evaluating the business case for changes and new initiatives in order to ensure an appropriate return.

Passion for delivering excellence through working in partnership with others, including cross-function and cross-geography teams.
