Senior Plant Process Engineer

 

         

     

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Amarillo Plant Engineering Lead is a salary-exempt position, reporting to the Amarillo Technical & Quality Leader.  The Plant Engineering Lead establishes and maintains accurate process recipes for operations to safely, accurately, and efficiently produce products that consistently meet codes, specifications, and customer requirements at the lowest cost.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The employee duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Act as an agent for positive change, continually raising the bar with the objective of attaining exceeding benchmarks. 

 

Know our Customers

Identify, understand, and teach others the critical product characteristics required to provide our customers with a quality product. Develop and implement procedures and systems to ensure products consistently meet or exceed customer expectations. Ensure that all control plans, work instructions, processes, and other procedures related to the technical operations of the plant meet or exceed customer expectations. Plan and coordinate experiments or trials for new and existing products to ensure they meet our customer fitness for use. Collaborate with cross functional team including sales, CoE, CTSO and plan ops teams for successful trials. Be able to lead Customer complaint management, including root cause analysis and problem resolution.

 

Processes and products

Create, and document process settings and work instructions. Determine process consistency and capability (Cpk).  Reduce and control process variability. Conduct regular process audits and lead Continuous Improvement through the Focused Improvement pillar. With Zero escalation approach, review, manage, investigate all escalations, Near Miss incidents. Define and implement sustainable corrective actions to control variables. Develop and implement Quality Control Plans to ensure that all products meet specifications at the lowest cost. Conduct process audits, including Layered Process Audits (LPAs), and implement corrective actions to ensure achieving product consistency, and maximum volume. Identify and eliminate special causes of product and process variation (troubleshooting). Analyze product and process data, providing feedback and making recommendations to optimize performance. Network with other plants and the Science & Technology Center (S&T) to identify and implement best practices.

 

Projects

Through FI loss tree, identify productivity projects and execute along with cross functional FI team members. Identify and implement process improvements. Improvements may originate from S&T or other facilities. Identify, capex opportunities and request capital funding for equipment, modifications, etc. Support major projects like startups, planned/ unplanned rebuilds.

 

People and talent Development

Coach, counsel, and train all employees on FI, process control and new processes. Be always on learning mode and acquire necessary knowledge to support technical, quality and process teams.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment Experience with Total Productive Maintenance methodology and implementation and/or Lean certification preferred. 1-2 Year of experience in coordinating and managing tasks with hourly technicians is preferred. 

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Ability to organize and lead multi-functional teams to achieve plant objectives. Strong listening and comprehension skills Ability to lead Continuous Improvement/ Focused Improvement projects is desired. Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization. Business and Financial acumen to understand the drivers of success and how they interact. External perspective and understanding that all business opportunities start with the knowledge of how to create value for the customer. Strong trouble-shooting skills. Utilize Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, AutoCAD, Power BI. Utilize SAP for data entry, notifications, purchase request and reporting. Sit / stand / walk for prolonged periods of time. Utilize computer equipment for extended periods of time.
