The Feeds Compute team, a vital component of Market Data, owns the global infrastructure and exchange connectivity that serves as the gateway for financial data into Bloomberg's ecosystem. We are seeking a passionate engineer to join our mission of evolving the Feeds infrastructure, empowering Bloomberg's Market Data business to maintain its competitive edge in today's dynamic market landscape. We'll trust you to: Collaborate with Bloomberg Technology, Infrastructure groups and Feeds application teams to design and implement the strategy for the next generation Feeds infrastructure, leveraging modern architectural patterns and Bloomberg “Paved Paths”. Join the team effort to decouple Feeds applications from underlying infrastructure and network dependencies, enabling seamless portability and scaling across compute resources through automation and streamlined processes. Develop and maintain high-quality, well-tested, and thoroughly documented code, adhering to industry best practices and coding standards to ensure maintainability, reliability, and efficiency of the Feeds infrastructure. Apply your expertise to analyze and optimize the reliability, scalability, and performance of the Feeds infrastructure by implementing monitoring and observability solutions, performance tuning, and leveraging advanced compute technologies. Proactively identify and address operational issues, perform necessary maintenance tasks, and implement preventive measures to ensure the health, stability, and availability of the Feeds infrastructure. Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, trends, and best practices in compute infrastructure, continuously researching and experimenting with emerging solutions to improve the scalability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of the Feeds infrastructure.
You'll need to have: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of breaking down complex challenges into manageable components and devising innovative solutions. Proficient Python programming skills, with a deep understanding of the language's features, best practices, and its application in building scalable and efficient systems. 4+ years of experience working on large-scale projects in an object-oriented language such as C++ or Java, demonstrating expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining complex software systems. Comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems, including architectural patterns, scalability, fault tolerance, and performance optimization. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, clearly articulate technical concepts, and foster a productive and inclusive work environment. A proactive and persevering attitude, with a drive to continuously challenge the status quo, explore new technologies and approaches, and contribute to the ongoing improvement and innovation of the Feeds infrastructure. A Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, similar field of study or equivalent work experience
We'd love to see: Practical experience or in-depth knowledge of cloud migration strategies and cloud-native architectures Solid understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies Knowledge of financial data feeds, market data distribution systems, would be highly valuable Salary Range = 160000 - 240000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus
