Bermello Ajamil & Partners LLC (BA) has an immediate opening in its Coral Gables office for a Senior Port Planner to head up projects for the firm’s Maritime Group. This is a position of leadership that requires advanced professional planning experience of high complexity and variety for the maritime project industry. Ideal candidates would have worked on planning projects for ports, cruise terminals, and piers.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities:
Perform advanced professional work related to a variety of planning assignments.Prepare strategic port plansCoordinate with port authorities, shipping companies, and other stakeholders in portsPrepare and present reports to clients and senior managementCollaborate with engineering teams and other disciplines to design and implement infrastructure projects for ports, terminals, and piersProvide effective supervision and management of more junior plannersManage budgets and resources effectively to achieve operational goalsRequired knowledge and skills:
Advanced knowledge of philosophies, principles, practices, and techniques of planningWell-versed in port planning including cargo, cruise, industrial and general-purpose portsKnowledge of principles, methodology, and practices of research and data collectionExcellent oral and written communication skills for preparing and presenting planning reports and projectsExcellent interpersonal skills for facilitating relationships with elected/appointed officials or other decision-makersCreative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information to solve less well- defined planning problemsGroup facilitation skills for use with community workshopsAble to multitask to work on several projects or issues simultaneouslyEfficient use time management skills to manage projects effectively and meet firm deadlines Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in planning or engineering10+ years of experience in port planning, logistics, or related fieldStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsProficiency in data analysis and forecasting toolsKnowledge of port operations, regulations, and industry best practicesAbility to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders
